Hours: Full time 5 days per week (40 hours), Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.

JOB PURPOSE
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Clinical Psychologist to join The Edinburgh Practice. The post will involve working closely with the Clinical Director and Clinical Lead. The role includes developing social media content for platforms, supporting the delivery of training, and assisting in clinically related administration, audits, statistics collection, and project work.
The candidate will support the multidisciplinary team with neurodevelopmental assessments for children and young people under supervision. This will involve information gathering and clinical observations in different environments (e.g. school observations).
2. ROLE OF THE EDINBURGH PRACTICE
The Edinburgh Practice is a well-established multi-disciplinary practice providing a range of high-quality, evidence-based health services to children, adults, and families, including:
* Psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention
* Psychiatric assessment and intervention & Memory Clinic
* Neurodevelopmental assessments (Autism, ADHD) and post-diagnostic intervention and support
* Educational psychology assessments
* Speech and language therapy assessment and intervention
* Psychosexual therapy
* Family and couples therapy
* Occupational therapy
3. MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
SERVICE DEVELOPMENT
* Assist and support the Clinical Director and Clinical Lead with service development activities across multi-disciplinary services.
* Support the Clinical Lead with quality improvement projects and clinical audits.
* Keep up to date on relevant policy, legislation, and research, consolidating documents into concise reports.
* Attend meetings for service developments.
* Undertake database searches for literature to inform evidence-based practice.
* Support the team with production of resources and materials.
* Work with qualified staff to involve children, young people, and families in service feedback and development.
* Design and implement audit and research projects, including data collection and analysis.
CLINICAL
* Support autism/ADHD assessment teams in gathering collateral information.
* Write succinct clinical reports based on findings from school observations.
* Support management of referrals and waiting lists.
* Administer and score psychometric questionnaires.
IT RESPONSIBILITIES
* Collect, process, interpret, and report information using appropriate software.
* Record clinical activity, caseloads, and waiting lists using IT systems.
GENERAL
* Contribute to the maintenance of professional standards through participation in CPD training.
* Maintain high standards of clinical record keeping and report writing.
* Engage in supervision and seek support when required.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues while maintaining confidentiality.
4. SYSTEMS AND EQUIPMENT
* Use computer software for databases, statistical analysis, and preparation of clinical materials.
* Keep accurate electronic records of patient contact and activity.
5. DECISIONS AND JUDGEMENTS
The postholder will be supervised weekly by a qualified Clinical Psychologist and will carry out elements of work independently, adhering to protocols and prioritizing workload effectively.
6. COMMUNICATION AND RELATIONSHIPS
* Communicate clearly and empathically with clients, families, and colleagues.
* Write clear, concise reports on research and audit activities.
* Present findings to both internal and wider audiences.
7. PHYSICAL, MENTAL, EMOTIONAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB
Maintain concentration during lengthy interviews and work independently within a busy environment.
8. KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB
ESSENTIAL
* An honours degree in psychology (2:1 or above).
* Entitlement to Graduate Basis for Registration with the British Psychological Society.
* Experience in a care or health setting.
* High-level communication skills and report writing.
* Good IT skills and ability to develop social media content.
* Full clean driver's licence and access to a car.
DESIRABLE
* Postgraduate training in relevant areas of psychology.
* Experience working with neurodivergent children and young people.
