Job Title: Fabrication Team Leader

EMBS Engineering are recruiting for a Fabrication Team Leader to join a growing, forward-thinking engineering business that works on high-profile projects within the aerospace, energy, and advanced engineering sectors. Role & Responsibilities:
*
Oversee fabrication, welding, and pressing operations to ensure high efficiency and productivity.
*
Identify areas for process improvement, and implementing best practices to enhance performance.
*
Mentor and train staff, including apprentices, to develop skills and enhance workforce capability.
*
Conduct appraisals and support staff development, with training available for those new to management responsibilities.
*
Work closely with the Production Controller to plan shop floor activities.
*
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and safe working practices.
*
Monitor and report KPIs, addressing areas such as rework, scrap reduction, and equipment utilisation.
*
Maintain quality control standards, ensuring all work meets internal and external compliance requirements.
*
Regularly communicate progress on health and safety, cost, delivery, and quality to the team.
*
Be hands-on when required, supporting the team in welding and fabrication tasks to resolve queries.
*
Participate in production meetings and liaise with senior management on business improvements.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate:
*
Extensive experience in fabrication, welding, and pressing operations.
*
A strong understanding of production processes, lead times, and constraints.
*
Ability to lead, mentor, and train team members to drive continuous improvement.
*
Confidence in implementing efficiency improvements and problem-solving on the shop floor.
*
Knowledge of ERP systems (Progress Plus experience is a bonus) to plan and schedule work effectively.
*
Strong communication skills, able to liaise across multiple departments.
*
Willingness to undertake further training and progress towards an Operations leadership role.
