DESCRIPTION: The Energy Manager will be responsible for the creation and management of all District policies and activities related to the management of utilities and energy usage. The Energy Manager will monitor utility and energy usage through regular reviews of utility bills and energy costs. The Energy Manager will collaborate with District staff at all levels to implement programs to ensure the efficient use of utilities and energy and will be responsible for maintaining compliance with all related codes and standards.
SALARY: Admin/Professional/Technical Pay Schedule, Range 7, starting at $7,173.25 per month (equivalent to $86,079.00 annually), depending on recent relevant experience. 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, 260 day / 12 month work schedule. Position eligible for benefits.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Create, manage and monitor District policies and procedures related to the usage and conservation of utilities and energy (water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, electric, natural gas and renewable sources) for all District managed facilities.
2. Manage and prepare utility and energy usage budgets.
3. Develop and promote energy efficient practices. Includes outreach with schools and departments to develop energy efficient practices and support sustainability efforts.
4. Report yearly to the State of Colorado for the Energy Performance Benchmarking. Manage compliance with Building Performance Standards and energy performance pathway reductions.
5. Utilize known programs to analyze and track sustainability and energy indicators.
6. Evaluate operation of all district sites to ensure optimal efficiency.
7. Develop and maintain district database for all energy sources and suppliers.
8. Research and track energy industries for new technologies.
9. Act as district liaison with utility providers.
10. Monitor and apply for energy rebates.
11. Develop and maintain list of site meters.
12. Collaborate and support Facilities Director, Bond Director and Construction Project Managers in developing specifications for new buildings, building renovations and site remodels related to energy usage and conservation.
13. Participate in the selection of energy consuming and conserving products and equipment to be used in schools and other facilities including those used in HVAC equipment, domestic and irrigation water systems, transportation vehicles and charging stations.
14. Monitor energy performance contracts.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's Degree or 4 years' experience in a related field (i.e. building automation systems, building science, building trades, asset management, engineering, sustainability, etc.) or combination.
2. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
3. Must pass Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.
Experience:
1. Four (4) years' experience in related field.
2. HVAC controls systems experience or certification preferred.
3. Grant writing experience preferred, but not required.
Skills, Knowledge and Equipment:
1. Must possess excellent computer skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.
2. Ability to interact and work effectively and cooperatively with diverse groups of people.
3. Ability to accomplish tasks timely and with minimal supervision.
4. Ability to keep up-to-date with new programs and systems and apply knowledge to the job.
5. Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, District policies, building and department procedures.
