About the role
Lead Electrical Engineer – Balfour Beatty (@one Alliance)
@one Alliance is a partnership of eight leading companies—Anglian Water, Balfour Beatty, Barhale, Binnies, MMB, MWH Treatment, Skanska, and SWECO—delivering over half of Anglian Water’s capital investment programme. As we enter AMP8, our most ambitious Asset Management Period, we are preparing to undertake our largest project yet. This is a unique opportunity to drive industry change, set global standards, and foster career growth.
We are looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer to provide technical leadership and engineering expertise across water and water recycling infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects. In this role, you’ll support multiple design schemes, ensuring all designs meet the latest standards and legislation while promoting efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
What you'll be doing
Key responsibilities:
* Report regularly to the Principal Engineer.
* Work closely with Principal Engineers, Portfolio Design Managers, and Project Design Managers to align project milestones and design reviews.
* Review and approve specifications, schedules, datasheets, drawings, and 3D models to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and technical standards.
* Mentor and support junior and less experienced electrical engineers.
* Address construction site and supply chain design queries, ensuring prompt and accurate responses while maintaining design integrity.
* Contribute to Construction Design Management (CDM) and commissioning strategy meetings.
* Identify and implement design improvements in collaboration with the Principal Engineer and Design Managers.
* Coordinate with other departments and project teams to meet design requirements.
* Oversee design workflow and quality control, ensuring alignment with project timelines.
* Support fellow leads and discipline engineers in delivering high-quality engineering solutions on time.
* Champion sustainability, low-carbon design, offsite manufacturing, modular construction, and repeatable solutions.
Who we're looking for
What we are looking for:
* A degree in engineering (or equivalent) or demonstrable knowledge at a degree level through relevant experience. Chartership or progress toward Chartered status is preferred.
* Experience working on water-sector assets and capital projects.
* Strong knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and codes of practice.
* Experience in a Design & Build environment.
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to lead and innovate within an industry-defining programme.
