Overview
The Older Persons Scams Awareness & Aftercare Project has been operational since April 2020, primarily serving Cheshire East.
It is an award-winning initiative aimed at safeguarding older individuals from scams and doorstep crime while providing essential aftercare and support. The project is now expanding its services into Cheshire West & Chester.
The Project Manager will oversee the continued development and delivery of this vital service, working to raise awareness, prevent repeat victimisation, and provide aftercare to older victims. The role also involves recruiting and managing volunteers, collaborating with partners such as Trading Standards and the Police, and promoting the project through various channels.
Duties
1. Develop and implement a strategy, in conjunction with the Chief Executive, to manage and expand the project.
2. Oversee the day-to-day operation of the project, ensuring the delivery of scams and doorstep crime awareness services across Cheshire East and Cheshire West & Chester.
3. Work in close collaboration with key stakeholders, including Cheshire East and Cheshire West & Chester Trading Standards, national Age UK, the Police and Crime Commissioner, and other funders and supporters to ensure project outcomes are achieved.
4. Deliver awareness sessions to community groups, empowering them to share key information and develop local networks.
5. Provide one-to-one aftercare support for vulnerable older individuals, particularly those identified as at risk of repeat victimisation.
6. Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers to assist with delivering awareness sessions, aftercare, and community engagement.
7. Ensure that all necessary resources are sourced and provided to volunteers and staff to enable effective service delivery.
8. Coordinate the production and dissemination of regular scams awareness bulletins, ensuring the content is accurate and engaging.
9. Lead quarterly project user group meetings, including preparing agendas, reports, and meeting minutes, to gather feedback and drive improvements.
10. Manage the project budget, ensuring financial oversight and efficient resource allocation.
11. Maintain accurate records and produce regular progress reports for internal and external stakeholders, including Age UK National.
12. Represent Age UK Cheshire at external meetings and events, promoting the project and its outcomes to a wider audience.
13. Identify and share key learnings from the project to secure further funding and expand its reach.
Skills
1. Proven experience in supporting individuals to improve wellbeing and access services.
2. Demonstrated success in achieving outcomes through inter-agency collaboration and partnerships.
3. Confidence in promoting projects through various communication channels, events, and media.
4. Ability to manage activities and meet defined targets and outcomes.
5. Strong skills in maintaining accurate records and producing management information reports.
6. Experience in recruiting, managing, and motivating volunteer groups.
7. Person-centred approach with excellent listening and people skills.
8. Proficiency in ICT, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
9. Strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently and set priorities.
10. Skilled in public speaking and presenting.
11. Flexibility to work outside normal office hours when required.
