Planning and organisational tasks / duties Support the Radiology service in ensuring that TCPC patients are scheduled in line with clinical and performance criteria Act as first point of contact in radiology for TCPC staff for queries and support Schedule appointments and procedures appropriately and according to waiting time requirements and liaise with the clerical officers regarding booking Allocate procedures to lists or consultants using their knowledge of Interventional Radiology (IR) and Ultrasound procedures Communicate with a wide range of staff across the hospital and TCPC from the multi-disciplinary team Liaise with the TCPC Admission Unit to arrange patients hospital admission when required (day case or overnight stay as appropriate) Liaise with TCPC inpatient ward regarding patients procedures, ensuring the correct paperwork is sent with any pre-procedure instructions Prioritise and allocate MR, CT, plain film and PET-CT private scans to radiologists / radiographers for timely reporting Ensure patients are scanned and reported on within the required timescales and liaise with clinical leads where cases need to be brought forwards Provide accurate data reporting against the relevant key performance indicators Play a pivotal role in ensuring that the service meets agreed objectives including patient access targets and quality standards Plan and prioritise own workload Able to receive and act unsupervised on complex information that has been agreed by the Radiology management team Responsible for ordering and checking stock levels for equipment for specific IR procedures Patient / service user related tasks /duties Communicate with patients regarding their appointment Act as first point of contact for radiology for private patients, relatives and carers Use kind, persuasive language to encourage patients to accept available appointments and to attend at the required time and date Responsibilities for information resources Relay complex clinical information between different departments and clinical professionals in order for patients and workload to be prioritised Compile and update a weekly Radiology PTL status database for private patients to aide with monitoring turnaround times from referral to report for appointments and procedures To be familiar with and a competent user of CRIS and other Radiology systems Ensure all relevant documentation is entered and scanned onto IT system, updating patients records when needed Provide breakdowns of the services performance against set targets and help identify issues where there is instances of under-performance Be familiar with and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and departmental protocols. Responsibilities for human resources Provide cross-cover for relevant tasks and responsibilities of the IPU Coordinator and Radiology Coordinator Provide relevant training for new and existing staff relating to prioritisation of TCPC patients, booking appointments and all associated tasks Responsibility for financial resources Perform data cleansing on CRIS; ensuring correct code allocations for scans and procedures performed; to ensure radiology and the trust optimise the income for procedures performed and allowing performance and clinical audits to be carried out with accurate information. Responsibility for education, training, audit, research and development Provide guidance to Radiology staff on national guidance and trust processes in relation to diagnostic access and PTL Undertake audits and surveys in relation to access to imaging and for PTL processes Take responsibility for personal continuing professional development
