Leonardo has a fantastic opportunity for a Lead Systems Engineer to join a brand new department focused on the development of Synthetics, Digital Products and Services that will transform the way we work across our UK division.
As the Synthetics Design Lead, the successful applicant will take a leadership position in this new department to create the detailed designs and operations of the Synthetics capability required across the Electronics Division in the UK and influence the designs of Synthetics across UK Divisions.
The Synthetics Design Lead will take advantage of their keen understanding of synthetics systems, processes, methodologies, and tools to rapidly develop this capability.
What you will do:
1. Lead the design of Synthetics capabilities for the Electronics Division in the UK.
2. Work with stakeholders across the Electronics Division to understand the implications of design decisions as they mature into implementation for this systems capability area.
3. Work with other Digital Products and Services Systems Leads to develop this capability and prepare for future products as a team, reporting to the Chief Systems Engineer for this area.
4. Support the development of relationships with synthetics providers with the Chief Systems Engineer for this area with a view to bringing identified and agreed capabilities into the business.
5. Conduct assessments of potential capability providers and partners.
6. Lead the delivery of mature design reviews.
What we are looking for:
1. Strong understanding and experience of the tools, methodologies, and processes in the synthetics domain.
2. Strong experience of delivering synthetics-centric solutions under time pressure.
3. Strong experience of capturing complex designs and communicating them to diverse stakeholders.
4. Good systems thinking skills and experience working through complex problems with diverse and distributed stakeholders of varying levels of seniority.
5. Self-motivated with a strong aptitude for problem solving and decision-making within projects involving design complexity and uncertainty.
6. Strong experience of managing conflicting priorities and stakeholder needs into an agreed design.
7. Excellent written and verbal presentation ability.
8. Ability to obtain SC or higher Clearance for UK-caveated programmes.
9. Degree, or equivalent level qualification in Systems, Software, Mathematics, or other relevant STEM centric field.
10. Understanding of future direction of travel for synthetics-centric technologies.
11. Understanding of current and/or maturing UK MOD policies and guidance on synthetics related areas.
12. Experience of Agile working.
13. Experience of requirements definition.
