As risk accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate reporting of the company’s physical and derivative commodity transactions, risk exposure and the day-to-day running of its treasury function. You will work as a senior member of the finance team, and closely with the commercial function, performing a middle office role. Responsibilities Prepare the daily risk report summarising the live commodity position, flagging the potential for policy breaches and providing management with live information from which commercial decisions will be made Run mark-to-market month-end reporting and prepare hedging journals for physical and derivative exposures, supporting the finance team in the month-end routines Run KPI reports on trade activity and contract information capture accuracy Responsible for ensuring that all treasury activities, including cash flow management and forecasting are performed in a timely and effective manner in accordance with the group’s treasury management policies Ownership of the company’s risk register and support senior management with the development of the enterprise risk management policies. Additional Information You will act as the main day-to-day contact point with the front office traders and will work closely with the back-office role to ensure information is captured in a timely and accurate manner. In addition to commodity risk, you will be expected to advise senior management on any foreign exchange risk exposures and assist in the execution of FX trades. You will also be responsible for organising the Risk Committee where you will present the company’s risk exposures and capture any actions required Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 per annum, plus 10% benefits package. About You Knowledge – skills and experience required Educated to degree–level and holding a recognised accounting and/or treasury qualification. Have an understanding of derivative transactional processes and the associated control environments. Detailed knowledge of accounting for financial instruments (IFRS9). Personal attributes Good commercial understanding and ability to identify risks to help senior management to understand the impacts on the business. Strong communications skills – this is a relatively small business, and it is therefore essential to be able to interact with people at all levels and to also be able to constructively challenge people.
