About the Role: As a Bookkeeper, you will play a pivotal role in handling day-to-day bookkeeping tasks for individuals and companies. From managing VAT returns to providing exceptional customer service, you will be at the forefront of supporting our clients and ensuring their financial success. Key Responsibilities: Build and nurture strong, long-lasting relationships with a wide variety of clients, ensuring their needs are met and their businesses thrive. Implement Xero and other 'app stacks' for clients to streamline processes and improve efficiency. Deliver accurate and timely management information, ensuring our clients are always informed. Assist in the production of monthly accounts and reports, reconciling balance sheet and P&L accounts with precision. Prepare and post journals for payroll, prepayments, accruals, and fixed assets to ensure financial accuracy. Conduct bank reconciliations, including PayPal/Stripe reconciliations and preparing upload files from Stripe/PayPal. Manage accounts payable (including expenses and credit cards) and accounts receivable, ensuring smooth cash flow. Prepare VAT returns for submission on accounting software and register clients online for VAT. Prepare weekly and monthly supplier payments while overseeing credit control. Call HMRC on behalf of clients when required and correspond with clients to understand their requirements. Follow procedures, work to deadlines, and collaborate with accounts and tax teams to ensure seamless communication of relevant information. What We’re Looking For: AAT Level 2 or above qualified, or equivalent experience, with at least 2 years of experience working in practice. Trained and competent on Xero and QuickBooks; experience with FreeAgent, Sage 50, and VT Transaction would be advantageous. A passion for delivering outstanding client service, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy. Proficient in Excel and comfortable using a variety of accountancy apps. Strong communication skills in English, both spoken and written. Good at working independently with the ability to think through and work around problems.
