The successful candidate would be engaging with member of the public, obtaining statements and travelling across Scotland. We are looking for a candidate who can be flexible and is able to stay overnight within areas of Scotland to support the investigation. The purpose of this role is to conduct enquiries into Homicides and Suspicious Deaths which may include Unexplained Deaths to ensure that all lines of enquiry are completed to a high standard and reported to COPFS. Conduct enquiries and assist in the investigation of Undetected and Unresolved Murders as well as Double Jeopardy cases to ensure all offenders are dealt with accordingly and reported to COPFS. To display flexibility of working practices in support of enquiries throughout the Force area. Comply with GDPR responsibilities and have knowledge of, and promote procedures and practices that comply with the Police Service of Scotland Equal Opportunities and Employment policies. Conduct witness interviews and obtain accounts (whether by written statement or video / online interview), gathering information, intelligence and evidence. Review and document CCTV footage, identify key extracts of footage relevant to the investigation including evidence of criminality and the identification of persons or vehicles. Analyse, assess and interpret information for evidential relevance and importance, such as telecoms and financial data. Provide administrative support to the investigation team and assist in the completion of reports, disclosure schedules, review logs and transcripts. Complete all statements and written reports to a high standard and within set timescales to ensure Crown Office protocols are adhered to. Assist in the transportation of items to/from COPFS, Police, SPA and other partners. Provide clear and concise updates, written or verbal, to the SIO and wider investigation team, participate in daily briefings and strategy meetings. Attend court and other hearings in person where necessary to present evidence and support the Criminal Justice process. Will be responsible for assessing and self-managing risk within all aspects of the role.
