We are looking to recruit a Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA) who will provide a high standard of customer service and clinical care whilst promoting pet wellbeing and supporting the clinical team. The role is an excellent starting point if you want to progress to a career as a Veterinary Nurse.
This is a part-time Saturday role of 4 hours per week. The role is predominately at one practice but occasionally may require working between the sites and some training may take place on weekdays. A large aspect of this role will be maintaining a clean and hygienic environment in practice.
Other duties include:
* Assisting vets and nurses including preparation for surgical procedures and in-patient care
* Accurately taking and recording vital signs
* Providing nutrition and TLC to patients
* Running laboratory testing such as blood and urine
* Maintaining surgical equipment
* Full training will be provided.

Abbey Vets is a small animal only practice. We have two branches; one in Durham and one in Chester le Street. Durham is a lovely city with excellent transport links to the North and South. Beautiful coast and dales nearby for people who prefer the countryside.
Both sites are fully equipped. Facilities include digital radiography, dental x-ray, ultrasonography, endoscope, multiparameter, laser and more.

We have eight veterinary surgeons, twelve RVN’s, 3 VCA’s, we also have an excellent and experienced receptionist team. We also have a supportive admin team who takes care of financial matters including insurance.
