Low Ash Primary School is seeking to appoint a Deputy SENDCo
(full time and permanent, subject to completion of a successful probationary period of one term)
Starting in September 2025, this post is suitable for MPS and UPS teachers.
Are you a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) looking to make a significant impact on the lives of children with high levels of need? If so, we would love to hear from you!
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Deputy SENDCo to join our dynamic Inclusion Team at Low Ash. This exciting role offers the opportunity to work closely with our Inclusion Leader (who will continue to be the lead SENDCo in school) to bring increased capacity to our Inclusion team so that we can further enhance and develop our provision for pupils with SEND, ensuring they have access to a high-quality education and feel fully included in all aspects of school life.
This would be the perfect position for a newly qualified SENDCo who is looking to develop their experience in the role.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with the current Inclusion Leader (lead school SENDCo) to assess, develop, and implement strategies that support pupils with high levels of need.
* With the support of the senior SENDCo manage the provision for pupils with SEND, ensuring that their needs are met through targeted support and intervention.
* Work directly with pupils, providing tailored support in both small group and individual settings.
* Guide and support teaching staff in adapting learning and implementing effective SEND strategies across the curriculum.
* Monitor progress and provide regular reports to senior leadership on the effectiveness of SEND interventions and provision.
* Be an advocate for pupils with SEND, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are always considered.
* Support in the development and implementation of EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans), including regular reviews and meetings with parents, staff, and external agencies.
* Take a lead on the development of a SEND provision space in school.
* There will be some teaching commitment but this will not be full time.
Key Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and SENDCo qualification (or currently working towards it).
* Experience of working as a SENDCo in a primary school setting or in a similar role.
* A thorough understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and the needs of children with high levels of need.
* Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that meets the needs of all learners.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external agencies.
* Passion for improving the educational experience of children with SEND.
Why Join Us?
* Be part of a supportive and dedicated team committed to providing the best outcomes for all children.
* The opportunity to make a real difference in improving SEND provision and inclusive practice across the school.
* Professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and career progression.
* A school where relationships are key. ‘Relationships across the school are warm and respectful, reflecting the school’s motto that pupils ‘learn, achieve, persevere and succeed’. As one pupil said, ‘Everyone is welcome here, no matter what our differences are we all care for each other’ (Ofsted, 2025).
If you are excited by the opportunity to help shape an inclusive and supportive environment for children with SEND, we would love to hear from you!
