General Manager - Anaesthetics, Critical Care and Theatres

An opening has arisen for an operational General Manager to lead, in partnership with the Clinical Directors and Head of Nursing, multiple service lines including Anaesthetics, Critical Care and Theatres.
The successful candidate will have exceptional attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, with a proven track record of delivery of complex projects. They will have experience of working at a senior level in an acute setting and will report directly to the COO/Deputy CEO. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and safe day to day running of services within the service line, delivery of the financial target and ensuring business continuity and resilient service delivery, supported by robust operational and capacity planning.
It is an exciting time to be joining the Trust as many services including Theatres and Critical Care will be moving into the brand new Acute Services Block this Autumn. This will enable the Trust to increase capacity, improve sustainability and efficiency, maintain and improve quality standards and support patient-centred clinical services.
Main duties of the job
The postholder is accountable for the operational delivery of the clinical services and developing a service strategy in conjunction with clinical leads, setting clear goals to ensure delivery of excellent clinical care. Accountable for delivery of the service line financial target and ensuring continual improvement. Responsible for ensuring the smooth and safe day to day running of services within the service line, ensuring business continuity and resilient service delivery, supported by robust operational and capacity planning.
Job responsibilities
Post holder is accountable for the operational delivery of clinical services, and developing a service strategy in conjunction with clinical leads, for each of the group of clinical service lines.
Work collaboratively with Head of Nursing and Clinical Director for each clinical service line in order to set clear goals and objectives for staff within the service to ensure delivery of excellent clinical care.
Accountable for delivery of the service line financial target and ensuring continual improvement, ensuring that financial controls are established and maintained.
The post holder will be responsible for the effective management of human resource, a significant financial resource, governance and business planning arrangements.
The post holder will lead the development of quality objectives and business targets for the clinical service lines within the group.
Responsible for ensuring the smooth and safe day to day running of services within the group and maintaining good staff and patient experience.
Ensuring business continuity and resilient service delivery, supported by robust operational and capacity planning.
Work in partnership with colleagues across the organisation to ensure the delivery of the Trusts corporate objectives and transformation programmes. Ensure collaboration between services to support quality improvements and collective achievement of performance standards incorporating quality, safety, contractual, access, financial and workforce.
Lead by example and act at all times as an ambassador for the Trust, championing the Trusts values and upholding the highest standards of behaviour and compassion for colleagues.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience
* Specialist training to Masters or equivalent level
* Formal management or business qualification or equivalent relevant experience
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Project Management Qualification
Experience
* NHS Experience at a management level
* Proven budget management skills and financial acumen with experience of delivering CIPs within an organisation with a £multi-million turnover
* Managing a diverse team
* Negotiation and influencing skills at a senior management level
* Evidence of delivering and implementing strategic plans
* A demonstrative track record of delivering initiatives to improve the quality of care
* Experience of assessing and managing risk
Knowledge
* Evidence of excellent communication and interpersonal skills in complex settings
* Evidence of strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to lead a number of complex projects simultaneously and deliver to agreed timescales
* Able to rapidly assimilate a range of complex (often clinical) information and make expert judgments using advanced analytical skills
