Our client, an SME Prime Brokerage firm, is looking for a CRO (Chief Risk Officer) to join their business in London. They have a lovely office in the heart of the city where the expectation would be in the office four days a week.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing and maintaining a robust and comprehensive risk management framework.
* Providing constructive oversight and challenge to the first line of defence on risk appetite, challenging proposed decisions and providing direction where risks have the potential to exceed risk appetite.
* Regulatory requirements such as the ICARA and MIFIDPRU8 disclosures.
* Liaising with the relevant regulatory body on prudential risk matters.
* Supporting the wider risk education of the management group, sharing knowledge and promoting an open and collaborative attitude to Risk.
* Managing Risk Committee and Board Risk Committee to oversee the management of enterprise governance, risk, and control activities at the company.
* Ensuring risk policies are appropriate to the business requirements as well as local regulatory risk requirements.
* Monthly KRI report and providing updates to the Board, advising on risk management frameworks and the assessment and measurement of risk.
* Monitoring control processes for operational risk, market risk, and credit risk.
* Ensuring that control of legal, reputation, credit, market, and operational risks are integral to the daily activities of the business units in the UK.
* Representing the firm from a risk management perspective in meetings with external parties such as core suppliers and clients.
* Managing the risk staff and ensuring optimal functioning and performance of the activities.
* Participating in the new product approval process, including risk identification and control development as well as approval.
Key requirements needed to apply for this position:
* Proven experience as a Head of Risk Management Function and/or senior risk professional, along with strong leadership skills.
* Demonstrable experience in dealing with Regulators and Board Committees.
* Proven track record in Financial Regulatory Reporting.
* Knowledge of a broad range of financial products, mainly equities.
* Knowledge of risks related to main types of products and instruments (TRS, Options, Futures, Structured products).
* Understanding of regulatory requirements.
* Experience in working closely with stakeholders and Regulators on risk matters, monitoring market, liquidity, and credit limit breaches.
