This role focuses on working with students aged 16-21 in the college section of a large SEND school, where small class sizes and 1-to-1 support ensure a nurturing and supportive environment for both students and staff. As a SEND TA, you will provide tailored support to students, helping them engage with both academic and holistic activities. The school offers a range of extracurricular opportunities such as a petting farm, running their own café and shop, screen printing, graphics, woodwork, and landscaping, giving students the chance to develop life skills alongside their studies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide 1-to-1 support to students with ASD, helping them engage with their learning and personal development.
2. Assist with academic tasks and support students in extracurricular activities.
3. Work closely with the teaching team to create a positive and engaging environment.
4. Promote independence, confidence, and well-being in students.
5. Assist with the development of life skills through practical activities such as running the café, screen printing, and woodwork.
Skills and Experience Required:
1. Previous experience working with SEND, particularly with teenagers or young adults (experience in any SEND setting is desirable).
2. A strong understanding of ASD and the ability to provide support tailored to individual needs.
3. Passion for supporting young people in both their academic and personal development.
4. Experience in supporting extracurricular activities is beneficial but not essential.
5. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture.
6. A caring, patient, and proactive approach to working with students.
7. An Enhanced DBS on the update service.
The School: A supportive school environment with small class sizes and 1-to-1 support. A holistic approach to education, focusing on developing the whole child. Opportunities to get involved in creative extracurricular activities. Full-time, temp-to-perm position with the chance to make a real difference in students’ lives.
If you have experience supporting SEND students and are passionate about making a positive impact in a creative and nurturing environment, we’d love to hear from you!
