Behaviour Support Worker
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Behaviour Support Worker to join a dedicated team within the Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP) of a thriving secondary school in Kirklees. This full-time, long-term role offers the potential for a temp-to-perm contract for the right candidate.
We are seeking a compassionate and proactive individual to support students with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
The ARP caters to students who find mainstream classroom settings challenging and may experience emotional dysregulation, school anxiety, and Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA). Your role will be to provide targeted support, enabling students to access the curriculum, develop essential life skills, and thrive in a supportive learning environment.
- Work closely with students to provide tailored behavioural and emotional support.
- Implement behaviour management strategies to promote positive learning outcomes.
- Support students in overcoming barriers to learning, both academically and socially.
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment, helping students build confidence and resilience.
- Collaborate with teachers, SEND staff, and external professionals to support individualised learning plans (EHCPs).
- Build strong relationships with students, parents/carers, and school staff to ensure a consistent and supportive approach.
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly SEMH, ASC, SLCN, and ADHD.
- A calm, patient, and positive approach to supporting students with additional needs.
- Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and experience in implementing these in a school setting.
- Understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and the role of EHCPs in supporting student progress.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders.
- Team Teach training is desirable but not essential.
