Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Summer Co-Op Student. As Ontario’s largest clean energy generator, OPG is committed to providing challenging opportunities in a work environment where safety is a fundamental value. OPG is excited to offer multiple positions focusing on developing field related skills in Tourism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing & Media student opportunities at our Saunders Hydro Dam Visitor Centre location in Cornwall, ON. Please note that our Cornwall location is not public transit accessible. Work terms are four (4) months and start in May 2025.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Interact with the public and serve as the first point of contact for visitors, providing a welcoming and professional experience.
* Respond to visitor inquiries and provide accurate information about OPG, the site, and its operations.
* Conduct informative and engaging tours of the visitor’s centre.
* Maintain records and documentation related to visitor’s centre activities, including visitor logs and tour schedules.
* Setup meeting rooms for bookings.
* Create content and social media posts for events.
* Write, photograph, videograph using hand-held camera, and provide layout/design support for employee communication vehicles.
* Support community outreach initiatives and events hosted at or by the visitor’s centre.
* Plan, organize, and deliver employee and community events.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Be currently enrolled as a full-time, post-secondary student in a recognized institution.
* Have completed a minimum of 1st year in college OR an undergraduate program at university by the start of the opportunity specializing in Communications, Public Relations or Marketing & Media, or other related field of study such as business or hospitality and tourism.
* We are recruiting talented students from all college and university disciplines.
* Have a minimum average of 70% cumulative GPA.
* Be returning to full-time studies in the same program following the completion of the work term OR require the work term or co-op placement to graduate.
Ideal skills and qualifications:
* Strong public speaker (Tourism experience is an asset)
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
* Event planning experience.
* Excellent proficiency with PowerPoint (Other Creative Suite experience is an asset)
* Desktop publishing techniques.
* Photography and videography skills.
* Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines.
