Temporary Commercial Manager - Social Housing
3 Month FTC - Immediate Start

Prosper Recruitment is working in partnership with a Main Contractor dedicated to enhancing the quality and sustainability of social housing through innovative refurbishment and retrofit solutions. With a focus on energy efficiency and environmental responsibility, the company aims to upgrade existing housing stock to meet modern standards while reducing carbon footprints.
They primarily focus on collaboration with local communities and stakeholders to ensure that refurbishment efforts align with the needs and aspirations of residents. Through its commitment to creating sustainable living environments, the company plays a crucial role in addressing housing challenges and contributing to the social and economic well-being of the communities it serves.
Due to increased workload and sick leave within the commercial team, they need to recruit a Commercial Manager with experience in Refurbishment, Retrofit, and Decarbonisation & Regeneration Schemes to complete a 3-month fixed-term contract. Our client is looking for a suitable commercial lead with immediate availability who can commit to the full duration of the contract.
Responsibilities:
* Ensure that the organisation's HS&E and quality standards, operating processes, company policies, and all legislative requirements are understood, implemented, and adhered to at all times, supporting the Managing Director in making the business a centre of excellence.
* Oversee the Surveying function within the Group, ensuring that all team members are fulfilling their job roles, and mentor and coach team members when required.
* Oversee the relationships between surveyors and operations, ensuring a relationship of cooperation and engagement that allows for successful projects which support the achievement of business objectives and deliver target margins.
* Develop & maintain close relationships with customers, consultants & subcontractors to continuously improve customer experience, enhance our company, and obtain repeat & negotiated business, while mentoring your team to ensure they are also completing this.
* Actively manage and monitor financial aspects of contracts at all stages, ensuring that forecasts are accurate and the cash position of each project is maximised without compromising contractual arrangements or relationships.
* Support the Managing Director in reporting to the Board of Directors on all financial issues, with clarity and transparency; update the Managing Director on any project issues affecting the contract.
* Ensure that Surveyors understand their responsibilities for the preparation and negotiation of interim valuations and final accounts and intervene if not carried out satisfactorily.
* Support the wider Surveying team on all subcontract interim and final account applications to ensure compliance with the Construction Act and/or other prevailing legislation.
* Evaluate CVIs, Architect's or EA instructions, and subcontractor's variations.
Profile:
* Previous experience as Managing Quantity Surveyor or above within a social housing contractor.
* Management of various multi-million-pound Refurbishment, Retrofit, and Decarbonisation & Regeneration Schemes (multiple schemes at one time).
* Quantity surveying degree or equivalent.
* Experience of E-Vision is advantageous.
