Role and key responsibilities
The main purpose of this appointment is to provide data, administrative assistance and limited financial analysis support to the Commercial Finance Managers in the Clients and Sectors team. This role will also help to facilitate internal analysis on clients and sectors together with assisting on external client reporting. The reports and analysis generated will be delivered to the firm's most senior stakeholders and clients so a keen eye for detail is required. The ability to work at a fast pace and strong organisational skills are therefore imperative, to ensure accuracy and meet tight reporting deadlines.
As part of the wider finance team you will be responsible for but not limited to:
* Administrative support for the Commercial Finance Managers within the Clients and Sectors team and wider Pricing team such as filtering, running and sending out automated reports from our reporting system.
* Requesting and processing administrative changes to the firm’s database that are sent through from Commercial Finance Managers and wider Pricing team.
* Limited analytical support for the Commercial Finance Managers within the clients and sectors team and the wider Pricing team.
* Complete scheduled monthly reports within timescales agreed to a high level of accuracy.
* Provide weekly reporting for some sectors and clients to a high level of accuracy.
* Work with the pricing team to provide client information they require by utilising the automated reporting system.
* Respond to questions and provide limited ad-hoc financial analysis when required. This could be for Partners or marketing teams etc.
* Provide international reporting by collating and combining data from other countries in different currencies.
* Ensure all role-based training assigned to you is completed within timescales.
Skills and experience
* Intermediate Excel knowledge including basic formulae, formatting and basic charts is essential.
* Close attention to detail is essential.
* This role requires the need to be able to multi-task adhering to strict deadlines.
* Ability to work calmly to tight time deadlines and keep many simultaneous requests well organised.
* Good team player with the desire to support the other members within the team.
* Ability to juggle incoming ad hoc requests for client and sector related information.
* Successful candidate will be organised, focused and keen to learn.
* A degree or equivalent qualification (2:1 or above) would be advantageous but not required. More importantly the candidate would have a highly disciplined, organised and logical approach to their work.
* Advanced Excel knowledge including pivot tables, lookups and problem-solving formulas would be advantageous but not necessary.
* Knowledge of cube-based reporting systems advantageous although not necessary.
* Knowledge of SAP or similar law firm practice management system advantageous although not necessary.
* Experience of running reports from Microsoft Power BI would be advantageous although not necessary.
* Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to recognise relevant details within written requests from several different stakeholders.
* A reliable, enthusiastic and a ‘can do’ approach.
* A collaborative style and able to build strong working relationships within Finance and across the business.
