Background
Sport and Leisure Services lies within the Student Experience Directorate, providing sport and leisure opportunities to Students, Staff, Alumni and Community users. Sport and Leisure Services directly or indirectly manages a range of high-quality sport facilities and delivers a range of health, fitness, and wellbeing initiatives across the University. Our role is squarely focused on the Student Experience and directly supporting the University’s Strategic Vision.
Responsibilities
* To manage the day to day operations and all staff of CitySport whilst acting as Duty Manager.
* Assist the Leisure Supervisor (Development) to design, coordinate and deliver bespoke physical activity programmes for users.
* To support in designing, coordinating, and delivering the Just Play series.
* To co-ordinate all operational staff as the Duty Manager, deal with customer complaints and be responsible for the operational health and safety of students, staff and public.
* To perform regular building, process and operation checks throughout a shift to ensure optimal customer satisfaction, whilst maintaining a safe, clean and well-maintained environment.
* To maintain logs and records of all incidents that occur during the Duty Manager shift and to ensure that the information is escalated appropriately.
* To assist the Leisure Supervisor (Development) with logging and monitoring all sports hall and studios specific equipment issues as well as facility issues, providing follow up reports to the wider team.
* To undertake any other duties that may be required by Sport and Leisure leadership staff.
* To provide extra support for FOH duties, delegating and delivering site tours and promoting sales.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
* First aid at work certificate (or similar)
* An working knowledge of sport and physical activity and session operations
* Sports coaching certificate
Experience
* Experience planning and delivering sports activities
* Experience of supervising/leading a team
* Health & safety experience within a leisure facility
* Experience of using FOH leisure systems e.g. XN or Legend
* Experience of setting up sports halls or studios to accommodate sports or exercise programmes or fixtures
Skills and Abilities
* To lead by example, to be innovative and contribute to a high performing team
* To be able to use own initiative, time manage effectively and work under pressure.
* To interpret and analyse problems, identify potential solutions and have the ability to empathise with customers whilst always maintaining a professional boundary
* Able to demonstrate commitment to a high standard of customer service.
