Job title: Maintenance Engineer

Salary: £45k - £50k
My client is looking for experienced Maintenance Engineers to join a busy and growing team within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The candidate will be responsible for carrying out electrical and mechanical breakdown repair coverage for all the manufacturing plant, carrying out planned preventive maintenance in line with predetermined schedules and assisting with training. May also undertake more complex and detailed project work when machine rebuilds or refurbishments are required.
Role & Responsibilities:
1. Respond to machine breakdowns with a view to minimising downtime and improving long-term machine reliability.
2. Execution of the Lead/Senior Maintenance Engineer's plan to work preventatively in addition to reactively.
3. Use of appropriate root cause analysis tools & 5S.
4. Actively support a culture of Continuous Improvement, looking at ways to engineer out persistent problems.
5. Be cost conscious - achieving savings where possible.
6. Carry out routine Planned Preventative Maintenance.
7. Accurately record all maintenance tasks performed on an electronic reporting system.
8. Train Operators and Craft in performing First Line and Planned Maintenance Activities as and when required.
9. Communicate and liaise with other departments and fellow maintenance engineers to ensure continuity of information between shifts.
10. Liaise with machine tool suppliers/representatives for the purchase of machine tool spares and resolution of problems requiring 3rd party support.
11. Be responsible for training apprentices.
12. Attend monthly meetings to ensure understanding of the organisation's importance of meeting customer as well as statutory and regulatory requirements.
13. Proactively ensure quality procedures and guidelines are followed to ensure quality objectives are met.
14. Escalate any customer quality concern immediately upon identification.
Skills:
1. Be conversant with Electricity at Work Regulations, COSHH, and Safety at Work Regulations.
2. Strong fault-finding skills.
3. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate well at all levels.
4. Works well alone and as part of a team.
5. Proven record of being pro-active, self-motivated, and flexible when working in a pressurised environment.
Qualifications:
1. A minimum of 5 years' experience of working in a machine tool, assembly, or test production environment.
2. Ability to read Pneumatic, Electrical & Hydraulic Schematics.
3. Multi-skilled individual with practical experience in CNC / PLC fault finding and repair, with a complete understanding and experience of mechanical and electrical disciplines (40/60 split).
4. Siemens S7 PLC and CNC control experience / Automation & Robotics experience / Fanuc PLC & CNC control experience, desirable / Allen-Bradley PLC, desirable / Experience with conventional and ultrasonic wash processes, desirable.
5. Ideally, to have served a recognised engineering apprenticeship.
6. Ideally HNC qualified, or equivalent experience.
7. Conversant in standard MS Office applications.
