Drive the development of a dynamic digital content programme designed to engage and connect with Londoners across video platforms. This role focuses on producing innovative video and audio content that showcases the work of the Mayor of London and the Greater London Authority, ensuring impactful reach through the GLA’s digital and social media channels. By crafting compelling and informative content, you will help communicate the initiatives and accomplishments of the Mayor and the GLA to a broad audience, strengthening their connection with the people of London.
Principal accountabilities
1. Work with the Senior Video Director/Manager and the rest of the senior Digital Comms team to plan the monthly video output, advise on content prioritisation and strategy, and review all incoming video requests.
2. Work directly and independently with the Mayor and his immediate team, providing a first-class video service and influencing upward to ensure our video strategy and output is strategic and cutting-edge.
3. Generate social media-first video scripts for the Mayor’s video recordings in collaboration with the Mayor’s speechwriters and private office.
4. Combine excellent stakeholder management with deep knowledge of video best practices, adapting to the Mayor’s preferred camera style and ensuring the best possible on-camera performance.
5. Maintain flexibility in working hours and sudden changes to video shoots, in line with the Mayor’s ever-changing schedule.
6. Direct and supervise in-house shoots and provide end-to-end production to post-production.
7. Develop creative concepts for videos across all digital outputs, tailoring concepts per channel as necessary.
8. Independently set up and manage shoots, directing and producing videos, and obtaining outside support when necessary.
9. Generate interview frameworks to get the best possible performance from video contributors.
10. Work with the Designer to produce After Effects assets to enhance creativity.
11. Hire, brief, and manage the work of production freelancers, ensuring high production value.
12. Generate edit briefs and provide edit review notes across all projects.
13. Evaluate all incoming video requests and advise stakeholders on creative execution and production strategy.
14. Manage timelines, stakeholder relationships, and budgets for video production projects.
15. Ensure quality assessment and delivery of all projects, maintaining brand consistency.
16. Maintain care and responsibility for all GLA technical filming equipment.
17. Participate in multi-disciplinary, cross-department, and cross-organisational groups and project teams.
