Ansaldo Nuclear Ltd is the largest independent turnkey provider of nuclear engineering, manufacturing and services in the UK, and part of Ansaldo Nucleare SpA. The Company’s involvement in the nuclear industry began with the construction of the first nuclear reactor in the UK for the Dounreay Power Plant. Since then, Ansaldo Nuclear Ltd has supplied an extensive range of equipment and solutions to most UK nuclear power stations – including fuel route, remote handling, inspection equipment, encapsulation and waste handling. Ansaldo Nuclear Ltd also operates in the defence sector.
* Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there may be an opportunity for a full-time position.
Day to day tasks include:
* Learning to apply a range of Information technology and interpersonal skills in order to provide an excellent service to both internal and external customers including answering incoming calls, responding to emails and assisting with some basic administrative duties.
* Learning to work effectively as part of a team as well as on own initiative, developing excellent communication skills and dealing with all queries in an effective and efficient way.
* Learning how to accurately maintain records; both manual and computerized.
* Gaining a good understanding of risk assessments, safe systems of work together with policies and procedures.
* Undertake site visits to Manufacturing / Construction sites to check on site safety standards.
* Maintaining excellent levels of attendance at college/tutor sessions and successfully achieving a level 3 qualification.
* To always work in a “safe” way ensuring compliance with legislation, regulatory requirements, best practice and continuous improvement.
* Always ensure actions and behaviours fully support the Business’ Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Strategy, being open, honest and clear with us and others, ensuring effective communication across the Trust.
This is a two-year apprenticeship resulting in a Level 3 Safety, Health and Environmental apprenticeship qualification.
* Level 3 Apprenticeship in Safety, Health & Environment Technician
* Level 3 Occupational Health & Safety
* IOSH Managing Safety
* NEBOSH Level 3 Certificate in Health & Safety
Learners must complete 83 days off the job training within their workplace covering the assessment & project needs for the qualification and this must be logged and accounted for within their learning log.
The first 17 weeks will be a day per week at the training provider, In-Comm Training Services in Walsall, WS9 8UG, followed by monthly project development workshops, alongside assessor visits for the remainder of the apprenticeship.
