Main duties of the job

Join Ranworth House in Eastbourne as a Support Worker and provide care for people with Learning Disabilities, Autism and behaviours may be seen as challenging; where you’ll support and encourage them to lead a full and valued life, enabling them to live more independently.
You’ll be great with people – a real ‘people person’, able to communicate effectively – explaining yourself clearly in the right tone to suit the situation and be really good at understanding others (behaviours and expressions, as well as vocal). Having a good sense of humour and resilience, and a willingness to help residents with their personal hygiene are also important.
What you will be doing You will join an inclusive, supportive team that works well together to provide care to people with Learning Disabilities and Mental Health conditions. Whether you have experience as a Care Assistant or Support Worker, you will use your knowledge and skills to help support people lead a valued and fulfilled life.
Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will use your excellent communication skills and experience as a Support Worker with a background in Learning Disabilities and Autism to provide care and support people through their care pathway. It can be quite a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience and vigilance are important. But it is hugely rewarding to see people improve because of you; being able to do something today that they couldn’t do last week.
Working 35 hours per week, shift patterns are 7:30-2:30pm & 2:30pm- 9:30pm on a rota basis including weekends.
Where you will be working
Location: 1 Prideaux Rd, Eastbourne BN21 2NW
You will be working at Ranworth House, a service which provides support for people who may be living with moderate Learning Disabilities, Autism and behaviours that may challenge. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will offer support to people as part of their care pathway. Whether it is moving from their community placement or a family home because they require more structured care and support. In this role you will
1. Preferably hold a valid UK driver's licence (to assist with community visits)
2. Have strong empathy and a caring and compassionate nature
3. Be willing to support residents with personal hygiene
4. Have excellent people and communication skills, and a good sense of humour
5. Deal with challenging behaviours
6. Have a positive and professional approach
7. Be reliable, flexible, hard-working and honest
8. Be local or within commutable distance
You must live in the UK and have the Right to Work in the UK full time. 20-hour Student and Skilled Worker Visa's cannot be accepted.
