Job Title: Technical Trainer (Flat Roofing) Function: Marketing Location: South Cerney Reporting to: Lead Technical Trainer Direct Reports: None Job Grade: P2 Standard Hours (inc shift pattern): 40 hours per week Monday to Friday BMI UK&I have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Technical Trainer to join our team. Role Summary As Technical Trainer you will be responsible for the design and delivery of flat roof training within the UK business. You will work as an integral part of the Technical Training team to develop the service offered in line with wider UK and Group expectations. You will spend the majority of your time in the National Training Centre, with some UK wide travel. As the Technical Trainer, your key responsibilities will be: To act as the “company host” when running external courses and ensure that BMI is presented in a positive manner. Promote the use of systems solutions and the benefits of the BMI guarantees within established and new courses (where appropriate). To assist in the design of new/revised training courses to keep abreast of flat roofing industry trends and needs. To recognise commercial support opportunities and exploit these using appropriate/cost effective ways of delivering training to both internal staff and customers/client groups. To prepare and present established training courses and materials for practical and digital delivery. To ensure that all existing course formats/content remain current and in line with appropriate standards and legislation. Assume the role of practical flat roofing expert within the Training Centre and be able to communicate this expertise to a wide range of “customers” (From merchant counter staff to professionals such as architects, contractors and planners) To attend, mainly as a substitute in support of the Technical Training Manager, industry body/standards meetings as a recognised roofing expert representing BMI. Interpret broader construction issues/developments and be able to discuss/debate these with industry professionals. Ensure the safety of course delegates in a professional learning environment. Promotion of future sales by contributing to the BMI Apprentice of the Year Initiatives. Seminars, roadshows and presentations, both practically and digitally. Work with industry bodies, such as the NFRC, LWRA and SPRA, to develop training support for their members. Support the wider marketing department through technical and marketing based project work. Your key skills and experience will include: Expertise in the installation of flat roofing systems across multiple technologies and disciplines and the ability to quickly master the Icopal branded systems with a view to training others in their use Experience working successfully as part of a small team Knowledge of the UK Roofing industry and site practice Aware and experienced in creating and maintaining a safe working environment Excellent presentation skills Sound practical ability Customer focused Excellent communication skills Good administrative skills IT Literate An inclusive approach and a can do attitude Experience working in a training environment (desirable) Institute of Roofing membership (desirable) Externally recognised training qualification (desirable) If you do not have all key skills but still feel like you would be a good fit, please still apply and we will consider your application based on merit and experience.
