About The Role
Hippo is recruiting for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our growing consultancy. The Senior DevOps Engineer is a key role within our team. You will be working with like-minded, talented engineers across a range of clients, delivering value and driving automation. As part of a close-working and collaborative team, we make data valuable and available to our clients, through consultancy services or product development.

The Senior DevOps Engineer will play a key role in all of this.
These roles are for a very exciting piece of work with one of our long-standing customers and would suit those individuals who are within commutable distance of Coventry or Sheffield as there will be an expected requirement of working on client site up to 2 days per week.

Requirements of the Role
- Champion Infrastructure-as-code and automation in every aspect of the solution, encouraging a platform agnostic approach;
- Be prepared to operate in a hands-on development environment, working with several different platforms, languages and frameworks;
- Support and encourage the maintenance of best practice and standards in Cloud architecture, data platform development, testing and support;
- Share knowledge gained through consultancy and product development with the wider community, with the wider Managed Services team and other Engineering teams.
- Ensure that all platforms are delivered in a secure, supportable and scalable manner and are documented appropriately;
- Externally represent the Managed Services team at client meetings with the presence of the Technical Operations Manager.
- Manage clients’ expectations/communications.
About the Candidate:
We need people who are open to new technologies, quick to adapt, and quick to learn. If you don’t have one of the following please apply and we can discuss in more detail.
- Working experience of IaaS, PaaS and Serverless technologies on Azure and willing to develop knowledge of the other key Cloud providers;
- Working experience of CI/CD pipelines within Azure DevOps;
- Working experience of database development methodologies, including hands on experience with SQL;
- Working experience and automation of ETL processes and tools such as SSIS, ADF, Azure Synapse;
- Highly scalable data processing platform design and implementation experience;
- Understanding of Infrastructure as Code frameworks e.g. Terraform;
- Working experience of designing and implementing logging and monitoring stacks to aid observability e.g. Grafana, Cloudwatch, PagerDuty, ELK stack
- Good scripting skills in one of PowerShell, Bash/Shell and Python or another appropriate language;
- Experience of moving in a fast-paced, agile environment;
- Experience of responding to aggressive, delivery-focussed objectives;
