We are looking for a Garment Technologist to support the technical team to deliver efficient technical processes and drive product quality across children’s garments and accessories. Through collaboration, with buying and design you will also help to ensure the products developed, are technically feasible and in line with pricing structure. In addition, you will provide ongoing technical input across all teams on a day to day basis.
What will you do as a Garment Technologist?
* Use knowledge of supplier’s technical capability and factories to drive product improvements.
* Ensure the overseas team have clear direction for on boarding, managing and improving factories in line with product strategy and company requirements.
* Carry out overseas travel to manage evolving business, safety and legal issues with the supply chain so they have a clear understanding and meet the requirements of a global business.
* Sign off SMETA reports. Follow up on ethical non-compliances during factory visits and carry out ethical risk assessment, based on H & S issues.
* Input into the product strategy and work with the category team to deliver this.
* Ensure adherence to the required sealing process from initial prototype to production sign off (including critical path adherence and management). Drive improvements where required.
* Work with design/buying teams during product development to get as many samples ‘right first time’ as possible. Review WOW to support this.
* Risk Assess products to ensure product feasible, safe and legal products, reviewing process on a regular basis to capture all issues.
* Work with suppliers to achieve the most cost effective production methods to deliver the required quality standards, applying ‘best practice’ when applicable.
* Ensure block/size requirements are consistently applied across all products (clothing).
* Actively adopts a Quality Assurance approach to all areas of role.
* Driving product forward in terms of fit, construction and technical performance in order to meet customer expectations.
* Ensure products meet international technical labelling, safety and legal requirements.
* Work with offices to monitor and manage production offshore.
* Review and ensure product compliance at category level to meet UK and international requirements.
* Plan induction for new employees.
* Work cross functionally to support other team members.
What will you need to succeed as our Garment Technologist?
* Has a proven track record of managing a multiple product area or is an expert in a specific field, showing self-motivation and drive to achieve technical goals.
* Demonstrates ability to drive supply base improvements.
* Has experience of managing people/able to demonstrate ability to use knowledge to support business.
* Able to demonstrate good communication and management skills.
* Degree educated or equivalent in recognised textile qualification.
* Passionate about Monsoon Accessorize product and getting the right quality product in stores for customers.
