St James’ C of E Infant and Nursery School is a successful infant and nursery school with a friendly, vibrant school community. We offer a standard of education and a sense of belonging within a safe Christian environment. We aim to provide our children with the foundations of learning to ensure they “Choose the right path.” This is our vision for all of our children.
We wish to appoint a teaching assistant for January 2025 or sooner if possible to support the learning and care of pupils. The successful candidates will work closely with the teacher (and SENDCO where relevant) to provide support to pupils as part of our Nursery class, working both in the classroom and outside of it.
We are looking for a dedicated teaching assistant who:
1. Has a good understanding of child development and learning (particularly in the Early Years Foundation Stage), as well as of practices and procedures within education relating to the welfare and safety of children including those with SEND.
2. Can develop children’s learning through play which is relevant to individual needs and deliver small group activities.
3. Has recent relevant CPD that is applicable to the role and can demonstrate how this has impacted their classroom practice.
4. Is adaptable, able to work constructively as part of a team and use their own initiative.
5. Is kind, consistent, and willing to ‘go the extra mile’ to support and challenge vulnerable pupils and enable them to flourish, in support of the school's Christian ethos.
6. Can highlight what skills they can bring to the role and what we would miss if we did not continue their employment.
Further details and application forms are available from the school office or via our website www.st-james-inf.cumbria.sch.uk or by e-mail at admin@st-james-inf.cumbria.sch.uk.
Visits to school are welcomed and can be arranged by phoning the School Business Manager, Mrs Clair Brown.
