We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Inspection Team Lead to join our Glasgow facility and oversee a small but critical team of inspection professionals. This role combines technical expertise in CMM programming and inspection with leadership responsibilities, ensuring the delivery of accurate, efficient, and quality-driven results. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining inspection standards, mentoring team members, and collaborating across departments to drive continuous improvement.
Technical Expertise:
* Write advanced CMM Programs from both 2D and 3D data using Zeiss and PCDMIS software.
* Select suitable probes and attachments for the CMM to ensure accurate and efficient measurement of components.
* Develop and document fixturing requirements for each product.
* Generate detailed CMM reports with all customer and manufacturing-required outputs.
* Analyse CMM reports, identify non-conforming features, and communicate findings to production teams to resolve issues promptly.
* Continuously review and optimize CMM programs to reduce cycle times while maintaining measurement integrity.
* Conduct CMM calibration and ensure all equipment is maintained to the highest standard.
Leadership & Team Management:
* Lead and mentor a small team of inspection professionals, fostering a collaborative and quality-focused culture.
* Provide guidance and training to team members and production operatives on CMM operation and inspection processes.
* Assign tasks and oversee daily operations to ensure team efficiency and alignment with production goals.
* Act as the primary point of escalation for inspection-related issues, ensuring timely resolution.
* Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support professional development within the team.
Inspection & Quality Assurance:
* Perform first-off inspection reports for machined parts using a variety of measurement equipment.
* Compile corrective action reports for non-conforming products and work closely with production teams to implement necessary corrections.
* Conduct Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIRs) and compile reports as required by customers.
* Oversee shop floor inspection activities, ensuring adherence to quality standards and production timelines.
* Identify and issue appropriate inspection tools to production operatives for on-the-floor part verification.
* Drive initiatives to enhance inspection processes, reduce waste, and improve overall quality outcomes.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements.
* Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and technical proficiency.
* Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present findings and provide clear guidance.
* Quality-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
* Extensive experience in inspection of machined parts using a wide range of measurement techniques (CMM, Shadow Graph, etc.).
* Practical expertise in Zeiss/PCDMIS software, preferably for DEA CMM machines.
* Proven experience in creating detailed instructions, control plans, and standard working procedures.
* Significant industry experience in aerospace, defence, space, or automotive sectors.
* Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team, with a track record of delivering high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
