RLE International is working on behalf of their Midlands based Automotive Client, who are currently looking for an Interior Trim Project Engineer to support and join their expanding team.
Job Summary:
The Interior Trim Engineering team is responsible for creating, designing, and developing cockpit,
cabin and seating systems, focusing on aesthetics, functionality, and comfort.
They ensure the achievement of quality, cost, weight, and functional performance targets while
complying with requirements and standards. Collaboration with other system and attribute teams is crucial to optimize interior trim systems and components. This role requires expertise in Interior trim system delivery, vehicle attributes, and a commitment to delivering exceptional automotive designs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and engineer interior components and systems.
• Lead interior trim engineering in new vehicle projects.
• Ensure design solutions meet safety, quality, and cost targets.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, including Manufacturing and
Purchasing.
• Represent interior trim in relationships with internal and external customers.
• Work on material selection and manufacturing processes.
• Coordinate with suppliers.
• Address design issues.
• Participate in prototype activities.
• Stay updated with trends and technologies.
Essential Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
• Significant experience in automotive interior design.
• Knowledge of materials and regulations.
• Strong creative and technical design abilities.
• Experience in technical project management and automotive gateway requirements from
concept to start of production.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proven track record in designing and releasing automotive interior trim components in a
premium product environment.
• Proficiency in DFMEA and DVP creation and execution.
• Knowledge of CAE and DV methodologies.
• Ability to identify and implement process improvements to enhance team efficiency and
system/component quality.
