The Opportunity
We need an independent thinker, with an inquisitive mind to join our location planning team, to provide support in the evaluation of new restaurant opportunities identified in the UK and Irish markets.
The Location Planning team supports our wider acquisitions team in the acquisition and development of new restaurants, throughout the UK and Ireland. This is an outstanding opportunity to join the highly successful Development team of one of the most iconic brands in the world.
The individual will be required to build datasets and provide recommendations following the analysis of data, which can then be used to refine the sales and impact estimation process.
What will my accountabilities be?
1. Analyse restaurant specific data, internal and external, to assist with business making decisions and developing strategy
2. Support in the re-approval process where previously approved sales and impact estimates for all pipeline sites will be re-assessed for re-approval
3. Maintain, update and improve McDonald’s estate databases, along with competitor and other POI datasets
4. Assist in the tracking, reporting and communicating of competitor openings, reporting insights on their strategy
5. Support in the relationship with external consultants and data suppliers to ensure we are maximising their value
6. Monitor sales performance and impact post restaurant opening, providing analysis, insight and recommendations to the team and other internal functions. Findings of which will inform the future strategy and sales/impact estimation process
7. Potentially respond to wider business requests for geo-demographic data and analysis
What team will I be a part?
You will be part of the Location Planning function in the Acquisitions Team, forming part of the wider Real Estate Development Department, which includes Construction and Estates Management. Location is flexible although an ability to spend at least 1 day per week at Head Office in East Finchley is essential, with 2/3 days additionally per month at regional team meetings.
Initially it is likely and beneficial to have more face to face contact at Head Office, so be prepared to spend up to 3 days per week in East Finchley.
Who are my customers?
Location Planning colleagues, who ultimately support the Surveyors in the Acquisitions team, and occasionally those within the Estates Management team.
Qualifications:
What background do I need to have?
8. Degree in a numerate discipline essential, such as Business Management/Economics, but a GIS or geography related background is also very beneficial
9. A strong grasp of UK & Ireland geography, with a good knowledge of the restaurant and retail sector
10. Excellent attention to detail
11. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and lookups
12. An interest in analysing customer, transactional and market data
13. Experience of cross-matching datasets from different sources to identify and reconcile differences
14. Strong reporting skills required to explain data findings, providing effective and influential insight
15. Must be a self-starter, with ability to manage own priorities and workload accordingly
16. Be a good team player with the knowledge and enthusiasm to learn and develop
17. Demonstrate the company’s core values and a commitment to providing excellent customer service (essential)
18. Full UK driving license (beneficial)
