Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant Location: Hull Salary Range: £83 - £96 per day (Depending on experience) Start time: ASAP Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time GSL Education are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistant to work in Key Stage 1, supporting students in their learning and development. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting young learners and a commitment to helping every child succeed. Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant: Provide tailored support to students with special educational needs, both in small groups and on an individual basis. Collaborate with the SENCO to implement and adapt individual education plans (IEPs) and ensure students receive appropriate learning interventions. Assist in the preparation and adaptation of learning materials to make them accessible for students with different needs. Monitor and track students’ progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to reviews of IEPs. Foster an inclusive classroom environment where students feel safe, engaged, and motivated to learn. Support the social, emotional, and behavioural development of students, encouraging positive interactions and behaviours. Assist with classroom management and behaviour strategies to promote a conducive learning atmosphere. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians and other relevant professionals to provide updates and gather input on student progress. Uphold the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the wellbeing of all students. Requirements of the SEN Teaching Assistant: Previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role. Knowledge and understanding of a range of special educational needs, including strategies for supporting students with additional learning challenges. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents. Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to working with children. Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate) are desirable. Ability to adapt teaching approaches and be proactive in providing solutions to support learning. Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices. Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
