Morrison Water Services is currently looking to recruit an Environmental and Sustainability Advisor for our Southern Water Frameworks based in Falmer.
As an Environmental and Sustainability Advisor, you will report to and support the SHEW Manager, ensuring the delivery of legislative compliance and promote continuous improvement of Environmental and Sustainability performance and reporting.
You will be a highly organised, efficient multitasking and flexible individual who is keen to be part of a vibrant team.
This Role is a full time area based role.
As an Environmental and Sustainability Advisor:
* You will work collaboratively with other functions from early works and design through construction to commissioning ensuring projects meet environmental and sustainability requirements.
* You will act as point of contact and proactively engage with the client Environmental and Sustainability teams to promote collaboration.
* You will support the design team in the identification of environmental hazards, constraints and requirements for access and construction. Engaging with third party and sub-contractors to deliver environmental and ecological surveys, planning permissions, permits and consents to enable construction.
* You will advise on sustainability initiatives, collate data and prepare sustainability reports.
* You will develop waste and environmental management plans, environmental risk assessments and where necessary support the operational team in the identification, and implementation of suitable control measures.
* You will advise construction managers, team leaders and site operatives in the field of statutory Environmental requirements, whilst providing support in identifying solutions and options for continual improvement.
* You will regularly inspect work locations and provide report in a timely manner, ensuring environmental controls are identified and implemented safely. You'll also ensure corrective actions are acted upon and close-out the report in a timely manner.
* You will encourage continual improvement through proactive engagement with operational teams, assisting in identifying training needs, providing localised training, briefings, advice and guidance.
* You will conduct investigations of environmental incidents, identifying root cause and recommendations to prevent re-occurrence. Reporting incidents in line with Client and MWS minimum requirements and submit reports within agreed timescales. You'll also ensure actions from investigations are acted upon and close-out the report in a timely manner.
* You will have the opportunity to suggest, communicate and promote improvement initiatives, promoting innovation and different ways of working, together with monitoring compliance with both the Morrison Water Services management system and our clients requirements.
Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
* Previous experience as an Environmental Advisor in a construction environment (Utilities experience preferable) (Sustainability experience preferable)
* A recognised environmental qualification (degree level preferred) and professional membership of IEMA (or equivalent) at the appropriate level.
* Experience of supporting environmental surveys and design mitigation, liaison and coordination of diverse teams of environmental and ecological specialists to deliver construction projects.
* Be a self motivated, and efficient individual with strong teamwork and negotiation skills, capable of delivering confident articulate presentations, able to work on own initiative, prioritise workloads and have a willingness to travel to meet deadlines.
* Demonstrable passion for the Environment and Sustainability, driving innovation and an ability and desire to positively influence and develop those around them;
* Have effective communication skills whilst maintaining high levels of confidentiality and integrity.
* Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office - Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and be able to collate data, with attention to detail and produce accurate reports.
* Must hold a valid UK driving Licence and be willing to obtain CSCS card and EUSR, National Water Hygiene Water qualifications. (Training will be given)
Additional Information:
This is an area based role requiring regular travel throughout the client operational region, occasional overnight stays and office attendance as required to meet role.
Average 45 hours a week, Monday-Friday shifts between 7am and 5pm, times as required.
