Overview of the role
A fantastic opportunity to be part of the Engineering Systems team within Group IT based at our World Headquarters in Rocester. The Engineering Systems Product Owner role is a key role within the JCB business.
The person performing this role will be a critical member of the Engineering Systems leadership team delivering and maintaining some of the business’s most important IT services, globally to over 2,500 users. The Product Owner role is at the forefront of delivering productivity improvements, understanding and managing the demands of the business, and delivering increased value through the application of Digital Technology and IT Support.
They manage the PLM application development and maintenance for all JCB business units globally. PLM Development and Server Support/Monitoring is critical as JCB has fully globalized the PLM Application.
The Product Owner is the prime contact between Engineering Systems users and the Engineering Systems Development team, leading and coordinating the flow of two-way communication, integrating with the CADET Team organization and its key members.
The Product Owner fosters and maintains excellent working relationships with the Engineering user community, the Design organization, and the IT function. The successful applicant should have a passion for technology and will have the opportunity to develop and contribute to the delivery of Engineering Systems applications for global solutions.
What does this role involve day to day?
1. Defining the Vision: The Product Owner is responsible for working with Engineering stakeholders to define the vision for the systems, communicating this to all stakeholders, building relations with business owners and understanding business objectives. Creating a roadmap and keeping the development of the products in line with business goals.
2. Managing Product Backlog: The Product Owner plays a key role in managing the demands from across Engineering and helping to ensure they are met in the most efficient way. Creating a list of backlog items, mapping out dependencies, and prioritizing the backlog based on overall strategy and communication with stakeholders.
3. Anticipating Engineering’s needs and managing relations: The Product Owner has the responsibility of understanding and anticipating the needs of the Engineering functions so that they can effectively manage the development process. A sound working knowledge of the PLM/CAD domain is essential in this respect. A deep working knowledge of the PLM/CAD domain would be preferred.
4. Acting as Primary liaison: The Product Owner is required to gain buy-in from stakeholders and deliver clear instructions/requirements to the IT Teams, Project Managers, and Technicians.
5. Oversight of Development Stages: The Product Owner is required to contribute to the planning, execution, and review of each sprint/phase. Working with the IT teams to guide the development process and ensure Engineering priorities are being met. Engaging with the CADET community, stakeholders, and customers to confirm the final product is acceptable.
This will be suited to you if:
1. You have a Degree in IT or Engineering discipline.
2. You are someone with a sound working level understanding of the PLM/CAD domain, ideally with a technical hands-on background from Engineering or Design.
3. You have extensive knowledge of the Siemens NX CAD product and Teamcenter PLM workflows.
4. You have Teamcenter experience in applications such as Classification / Query Builder / Preference Management is also preferred but training is available for this and all other applications and disciplines if required, for the right individual.
