Support Worker (Internally know as an Enablement Assistant) Location: Locks Heath, Fareham Employment: Permanent Hours Per Week: 24 hours Part time Shift times : 2 x 07:00-22:00, 10:00-17:00, 1 x sleep in shift Hourly Rate: £12.50 per hour & £60.00 sleep in rate Driver required About the role This role will be supporting two young brothers living in the Locks Heath area of Fareham. Both individuals have an autism diagnosis with a learning disability and will require support on a 1:1 basis throughout the day and 2:1 when out in the community. One of the young males also has OCD and therefore an understanding of this is important. The brothers are very active and like to be out of the house doing activities throughout the day and enjoy various activities between them including football, bowling, gardening, rambling, swimming, trampolining and canoeing. Naturally they have their own individual favourite activity, but shared interests also. Team members will need to be fairly active and happy to enable daily schedules to run smoothly, ensuring activities take place when they should. IPAD time is important too and disruption to Wi-Fi or interruptions to this activity can cause upset and frustration. The brothers have their own schedules, therefore aren't always together, they have individual needs and individual behaviours that would need to be learnt and understood. Both have had a routine for many years and therefore they require team members who understand the importance of routine, and to be there to reassure and prompt around what is planned during the day, with changes being planned and communicated clearly in advance. Ideally you will have proven experience working with individuals who have autism, be patient, calm, reassuring but also be fun, and enjoy swimming and able to ride a bike.
