Reporting Sonographer - Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Join to apply for the Reporting Sonographer role at Katalysysts Consulting.
The Great Western Hospital is pleased to offer the opportunity for Reporting Sonographers to join the existing team within the Radiology department to enhance the ongoing development of our service.
Are you looking to be a part of a compassionate and supportive team of Sonographers? We are a close-knit team focused on providing the best care to patients at all times, and we would love to have you on board to join our 'work family'.
At present, we carry out over 50,000 ultrasound examinations a year, including GMUS, Vascular, EPU, and Obstetric exams. The Scanning department is located within Radiology on the Ground floor of the GWH, which includes MRI, CT, and Ultrasound, providing an excellent team dynamic among the Sonographers and the wider Radiology team.
There are currently 10 dedicated and friendly Sonographers in our team, and we need more to support our bustling service. We work seamlessly alongside our 10 Radiologists who are both supportive and cohesive to our service.
For the right newest member of our 'work family', there is an offer of a Recruitment and Retention premium.
Responsibilities:
* Perform ultrasound scans including highly specialist techniques and care for patients during these examinations, respecting privacy and confidentiality while maintaining a high-quality service.
* Independently assess each patient and adapt scanning technique according to their needs.
* Use discretion to work outside of departmental standards when clinically needed.
* Write formal reports in a concise and professional manner.
* Discuss ultrasound findings with other practitioners and clinicians.
* Manage own workload and assist others when possible.
* Contribute to the planning, organization, and smooth running of the area, liaising with clinicians and other staff within the trust and GP practices.
* Maintain departmental stock levels.
* Adhere to all Trust policies including Health and Safety Regulations, COSHH Regulations, and the Data Protection Act.
* Use the departmental radiology information computer system (RIS) and be conversant with the picture archive system (PACS).
* Adhere to safe systems of work regarding manual handling.
* Participate in out-of-hours rota, working unsociable hours and weekends.
* Have regular exposure to body fluids (e.g., blood, urine) and infection risk.
To aid this recruitment challenge, the introduction of a recruitment and retention premium (R&R) for this post would enhance the likelihood of a successful recruitment campaign. The premium will be paid in two instalments: £5,000 in the first month of employment and a further £5,000 on the anniversary of the start date. Should the recipient leave within the first four years of joining the Trust, there will be a requirement to pay back all or part of the payments depending on time served.
