Job Title: Accounts Assistant Department: Finance Reporting to: Group Finance Director Location: Gloucestershire Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum Hours: Monday – Friday Job Purpose My client is looking for a highly organised and detail-focused Accounts Assistant to take responsibility for all financial aspects of their Irish and French subsidiaries. You’ll work closely with their internal teams and global network to resolve queries efficiently and ensure the accuracy of the subsidiary accounts. This role suits someone experienced in managing a range of accounting functions, ideally with exposure to working in smaller organisations and now seeking to develop within a larger company structure. Key Responsibilities Duties will include, but are not limited to: Accurately recording financial transactions to trial balance level Managing accounts payable and receivables Maintaining company ledgers Conducting multi-currency bank reconciliations Reconciling ledgers to third-party records (e.g., supplier statements) Supporting the preparation of month-end management accounts Managing debtor ledger and chasing outstanding payments Processing supplier invoices in a timely manner Creating journals, prepayments, and accruals as required Completing periodic close and reconciliations Filing and archiving financial documents Processing VAT, VIES, and EU reporting requirements Handling customer/supplier queries promptly Assisting the Finance Director with year-end preparation Liaising with French and Irish accounting firms Legislation Staying updated on relevant financial legislation and global developments Additional Duties Assisting with special projects or assignments while maintaining confidentiality Experience & Skills AAT Qualified or Qualified by Experience Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an accounting role Prior use of SAGE and Brightbooks accounting software Knowledge & Skills: High level of accuracy and attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills (use of translation tools where needed) Strong time management and ability to prioritise tasks Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Experience with Sage 200 Accounts (or willing to learn new systems) Desirable: Ability to speak French (to liaise with French accountants and assist with French accounting software) Knowledge of French accounting standards Familiarity with import/export procedures
