Trustees DriveAbility Scotland
* VO101401
DriveAbility Scotland is registered in Scotland as a charity and a company limited by guarantee. It is an accredited member of Driving Mobility, a UK wide network of driver and passenger assessment and advice services which support older and disabled people with starting or continuing to drive, vehicle adaptation and other mobility needs. See Driving Mobility.
DriveAbility Scotland is currently based in Glasgow but, with the support of funding from the Motability Foundation, is expanding its presence and range of services progressively over the next three years to offer mobility advice across Scotland both from fixed and satellite locations, including outreach services to the Highlands and Islands. We have recently established a service in Aberdeen.
To support this development, the Charity is seeking to strengthen its Trustee Board, particularly to find trustees with skills and expertise in financial monitoring and control and in fundraising. The key roles we are seeking to fill are set out below:
Treasurer
A treasurer will monitor the financial matters of the charity and report to the board of trustees at regular intervals about the financial health of the organisation, in line with good practice and in accordance with the governing document and legal requirements.
In particular, the treasurer will:
1. Oversee and present budgets, accounts and financial statements to the board of trustees.
2. Ensure that proper accounts and records are kept, ensuring financial resources are spent and invested in line with good governance, legal and regulatory requirements.
3. Be instrumental in the development and implementation of financial, reserves, and investment policies.
Fundraiser
The package of funding the charity has received from the Motability Foundation is for a three-year period only, and the continued operation and development of our work will be wholly dependent on securing long-term funding beyond that period.
A key role for the fundraiser will be to support the CEO and Chair in discussions with the Scottish Government, as well as seeking alternative sources of income both for general and specific purposes.
