We have an opportunity to recruit a Resident Doctor (ST3) to start as soon as possible in Care of the Elderly.
Working with the Specialty Doctors, they will ensure cover is provided for general inpatients on general Care of the Elderly wards, including rotation into the Orthogeriatric Ward, which are all well staffed with daily consultant ward rounds and other junior doctor support.
Full-time (9am to 5pm) appointment working with the Care of the Elderly team.
Main duties of the job
Helping organise the consultant ward round, review sick patients, patients fit for discharge, leading the MDT in consultant absence from the ward, and providing middle grade cover to junior doctors within care of elderly medicine.

Education and qualifications:
Essential
1. Eligible for GMC registration to cover the scope of employment
2. Satisfactory completion of FH01 and FH02 (or equivalent certified evidence of competence) at the time of taking up post
3. MRCP Part 1 + 2
Desirable
1. Distinctions, Scholarships, prizes FRCS/MRCP PACES other Degrees eg. BSc. Masters, PhD (or equivalent)
Knowledge:
Essential
1. Keeps professional knowledge and skills up to date
2. Potential to benefit from the training available ie fits with career aspirations
Desirable
1. Demonstrates a critical and enquiring approach to knowledge acquisition
2. Understands the purpose and process of basic professional training
Experience:
Essential
1. Competent in basic procedures (which may be post specific) eg CPR, infection control, physical examination, history taking etc
2. Able to prioritize clinical need
3. Understands current clinical issues in specialty
4. Aware of own limitations and knows when to ask for help from senior colleagues
5. Understands the principles of patient confidentiality and data protection
6. Understands the need for and appreciates the role of audit in clinical practice
