We have an exciting opportunity for a Modern Matron (Oncology and Haematology) to lead our cancer nursing teams here at The London Clinic to deliver exceptional specialist care for our patients. This post is located at The London Clinic’s Duchess of Devonshire Wing in London, W1G 6JA, and we are offering a competitive inclusive salary range of £68,000 - £78,000 per annum (Band 8b/8c equivalent).

The Duchess of Devonshire Wing is The London Clinic’s dedicated cancer centre which comprises of 8 floors, including state-of-the-art radiotherapy & chemotherapy suites as well as 47 dedicated patient bedrooms. With the latest advances in surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy, we treat an extensive range of cancers.
Job Profile
This influential post will provide visible, inclusive and approachable senior nursing leadership across the oncology & haematology service (circa 100 staff). You will line manage the Ward Managers & Clinical Nurse Specialists, inspiring and motivating the teams to have the skills, authority and autonomy they need to deliver outstanding person-centred care as well as continuously improve the patient safety and experience.
* Reports to: Chief Nurse
* Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week.
* Shift/Working Pattern: Monday to Friday; 0830 till 1630, with expectation of flexibility
* Job Location: This role is located at The London Clinic’s Duchess of Devonshire Wing in London, W1G 6JA (Close to Regents Park & Baker Street tube stations).
* Salary: The attractive salary range for this role is £68,000 - £78,000 per annum, dependent on skills & experiences.

Duties & Responsibilities
* To line manage the Ward/Unit Managers and the Oncology CNS teams (13 posts across GI, Haematology, Palliative, Gynaecology, Liver, Breast).
* The Modern Matron is accountable and responsible for providing the professional leadership of the registered and non-registered nursing workforce across Cancer Care services.
* To line manage the Ward/Unit Managers and the Oncology CNS teams (13 posts across GI, Haematology, Palliative, Gynaecology, Liver, Breast).
* To implement the cancer services strategy working closely with the AD for Cancer Care to provide operational excellence.
* To provide visible, inclusive and approachable clinical leadership for Cancer Care.
* To lead, inspire and motivate nursing teams to continuously deliver and improve on patient centred care, patient safety, experience and outcome.
* To ensure efficient & effective human, financial, physical/environmental resource management is in place to support safe quality care being provided within the financial resources allocated.
* To actively promote continuous quality improvement- improving person centred care, financial sustainability, improving standards of clinical care, patient experience and outcomes
* To ensure systems are in place for effective nurse recruitment & retention, including local induction programmes & preceptorship packages for newly qualified nurses, career pathways and staff wellbeing.
* To participate in a Silver on Call rota
Skills & Experience
* RGN with valid NMC registration with experience operating in a cancer nursing leadership role.
* Strong evidence of people management, including experience of leading specialist cancer services teams.
* Leadership skills with ability to influence, motivate and inspire nursing teams.
* Experience in managing the performance of nursing teams and clinical nurse specialist in order to deliver of exceptional patient care and improve outcomes.
* Experience of service improvement through robust governance and learning from complaints, audit, patient feedback, staff feedback, incidents
* Significant Experience of measuring and evaluating outcomes in order to secure improvement through continuous improvement as well as active involvement in quality improvement change processes from previous working environments / teams.
* Excellent interpersonal skills; active listening, negotiation, assertiveness, negotiation, decision making, social awareness with the ability to network internally and externally.
