Country Partnerships Coordinator · Cambridge, UK · Full time, Fixed-term contract · £38,000 - £48,000 · Must have the right to work in the UK on application Role Description The Centre for Global Equality (CGE) is seeking an enthusiastic, independent, and self-motivated Country Partnerships Coordinator (hereafter, CPC) to lead the Country Partnerships Team within an exciting policy-facing research programme, entitled Climate Compatible Growth (CCG). The new CPC will work within a dynamic international team on strategy development, implementation monitoring and partnership-building. The CPC will play a crucial part in connecting policy makers, researchers and civil society organisations in the UK and the CCG partner countries, enabling productive dialogues and collaborations to support evidence-based, inclusive decision making across the energy and transport sectors. CGE’s new CPC, is a member of the CCG Partnerships Team, and will use their excellent interpersonal and organisational skills to support stakeholder communication across the programme, co-deliver workshops for key stakeholders in countries across Africa and Asia, engage in strategic thinking as a member of the directorate for the CCG programme, and cultivate a strong and inclusive community of practice with core partners around the world. Our ideal candidate is a critical-thinking individual who is passionate about sustainable, inclusive development. This person should feel confident in working within a fast-paced environment and able to operate with a positive attitude under tight deadlines. They will have experience in translating research outputs into meaningful outcomes in low- and middle-income country contexts. They will be an advocate for equitable partnerships within an international development context and for the co-creation and co-delivery of inclusive projects. The candidate should understand that the key to sustainable development is equitable teamwork, with the outlook that team success is of higher priority and personal accolades. They must hold a Doctoral degree in a relevant field, with 5 years of professional experience, working within a sustainable development context. About the CCG Research Programme Climate Compatible Growth (CCG) is a £95m UK Aid-funded project that aims to support investment in sustainable energy and transport systems to meet development priorities in the Global South. CCG brings together some of the UK’s leading universities including UCL, Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College, the Open University, Loughborough and Strathclyde, together with the Centre for Global Equality (CGE), KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and Climate Parliament. Our CGE team includes experts in practical, applicable research in sustainable development and related topics. Our strategy is one of partnership, collaboration and empowerment. This means that we work with countries, empowering them to make their own decisions on energy policy and the infrastructure projects for which they wish to attract climate finance investment. In our model, we always work with a university partner in-country and establish a local team of CCG co-ordinators. We empower countries by developing skills in energy modelling and analysis locally, to sustain this for the future. CCG has eight partner countries: Ghana, India Kenya, Lao PDR, Malawi, Nepal, Vietnam, and Zambia. The Role The CPC will be responsible for contributing to the fulfilment of the CCG programme’s ambitious vision by supporting the evolution and delivery of CCG Country Strategies and cultivating long-term, equitable relationships and collaborations across the UK, Africa, and Asia. The CPC will also be the key point of contact between the UK-based CCG consortium and the Partner Country teams. Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Thinking: 1.1. Support the drafting and implementation the country strategies 1.2. Build upon the Country Partnerships Team’s current monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) framework that is embedded within the country strategies 2. Management: 2.1. Line-manage the Country Partnerships Coordinators that are based in the partner counties that the candidate leads. 2.2. Meet regularly with other parts of the CCG Programme, including International Partnerships, the Research Consortium, and Management 2.3. Report to the Country Partnerships Manager 3. Partnership Building: 3.1. Meet regularly with international and UK-based team members to strengthen and progress country networks and collaboration 3.2. Generate reports on stakeholder engagement, country network progression, and the development of a community of practice within CCG partner countries 3.3. Represent the Country Partnerships Team at delivery partner meetings, both in the UK and in CCG partner countries 3.4. Establish new strategic partnerships with stakeholders in CCG partner countries such as government actors, international organisations, academia, and civil society 4. Country Engagement: 3.1. Co-delivery of in-country workshops, including preparing participant lists, supporting agenda development, and logistics planning 3.2. Ensure inclusive and smooth-running of country-based workshops 3.3 Planning of in-country visits, including setting the agenda, generating mission objectives, and arranging strategic stakeholder meetings 3.4. Liaise with FCDO-Post offices in the CCG partner country to enable effective alignment Key skills, knowledge, and experience The CPC will have: ● A Ph.D. degree in a relevant field ● The ability to discuss and convert complex frameworks into clear and concise concepts ● Experience building productive collaborations between people from different disciplines, sectors, and countries within a sustainable development context ● The ability to extract, condense and present technical research and policy content to a variety of stakeholder audiences ● Experience in organising and delivering inclusive engagement events online and in person ● An understanding of the academic research process, and academic culture and ways of working Desirable: ● Experience working Africa or Asia in sustainable development ● Experience with Gender, Equality and Social Inclusion frameworks ● Experience in following project management processes, including output logging and project report writing ● Experience with Log Frames, Theory of Change, and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning frameworks Person specification The CPC will: ● Have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English ● Have strong interpersonal skills with a friendly and positive personality ● Value the growth of other people’s progress and projects over their own accolades ● Be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team ● Thrive in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritise workloads and to work fast and accurately to deadlines when needed ● Be willing to travel internationally, particularly to low- and middle-income countries ● Keep attention to detail in both written and operational activities.
