We’re on the lookout for a dynamic Business Development Manager to collaborate with our Managing Director and Commercial Director. Together, you’ll find growth opportunities and forge strategic partnerships that open doors to new markets. In this pivotal role, you’ll not only identify and nurture leads but also maintain trusted relationships throughout the process. While this is primarily an office-based position, expect some travel to exhibitions and networking events, where you’ll connect with industry professionals to drive our mission forward!
Accountabilities
Service Delivery:
* Manage upsells, and/or channel qualified opportunities to the appropriate business executives for further development and closure.
* Maintain a robust sales pipeline by tracking leads, opportunities, and prospects through utilising the companies CRM system to support all sales activity.
* Support sales initiatives with external communications to clients.
* Conduct market research to actively seek out and identify selling and upselling opportunities and trends, as well as competitor initiatives.
* Help build and collate analytics and metrics to further develop initiatives based on client/market feedback.
* Assist in the production of responses to commercial tender/RFP requests.
* Solid knowledge of own department, and other functional areas within Kenyon notably Operations, Consultancy/training sales, renewals, and tender execution.
* Detailed understanding and execution of the formal commercial documents including proposals, work agreements, contracts, invoicing and credit control.
* Take photographs during events and pass to Kenyon’s marketing team.
* Collaborate with marketing, product development, and customer support teams to align strategies and provide holistic customer experiences.
* Manage multiple tasks, determining priorities as appropriate; with the flexibility to adapt and adjust to unforeseen circumstances.
Commercial Planning:
* Routinely review the internal/external announcements, schedules and calendar relating to Commercial Services activities.
* Stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to stay competitive and adapt strategies accordingly.
* During operations, the Business Development Manager may be required to work within the Kenyon Crisis Management Centre and support during deployments, which may require additional or weekend hours.
* Identify and oversee Kenyon’s attendance at appropriate industry events to further increase brand awareness and drive growth in products and services.
* Provide assistance to conferences, symposiums and meetings for activities commercial in scope.
* Maintain periodic communication with Lead organisations and attend trade shows.
* Assist in developing the business commercial cycle.
Business Development:
* For target new clients and sectors, research potential accounts, identify key players, work with Account Managers to develop inroads and generate interest.
* Drive sales and build new and productive relationships with customers / potential customers through inbound and outbound sales activity.
* Develop sales opportunities, convert pipeline prospects into sales and negotiate contracts for services and consultancy/training agreements in line with company policies and directives.
* Prepare and submit client tenders in a timely manner and present professionally and confidently (as required).
* As required, assist other Kenyon staff or associates with commercially focused travel.
* Grow revenue from existing client base and through new client acquisition.
* Provide expert guidance and recommendations to clients, highlighting the value of our offerings.
* Identify opportunities and develop business case(s) for new service offerings.
* Liaise with managers across the business to ensure Business Development is aligned to available resources.
Customer Relationship Management:
* Prepare and conduct briefings for current and prospective clients.
* Regularly assess client needs, challenges, and opportunities to tailor solutions.
* Provide direct customer care support to Kenyon clients. This includes proactive outreach to all assigned clients, unless otherwise specified by the client.
* Occasional international travel for liaison with airports, airlines, external suppliers and customers may be required.
* Engage with clients to ensure we exceed their expectations and seek opportunities to expand our portfolio and enhance our reputation within the industry.
* Provide an immediate response (within 24 hours) to sales enquiries.
Finance Management:
* Review and jointly approve key procurement contracts to ensure company interests are best protected.
* Negotiate terms and pricing with potential clients to secure new contracts.
People Management:
* Negotiate strategic relationships with business partners.
* Manage the performance of the Business Development team.
Candidate Requirements:
* Previous experience in a Business Development Management role (3 years)
* Business management educational background with solid core management skills.
* Excellent presentation and communication skills.
* Able to build and maintain excellent multi-variable client relationships.
* Ability to adapt and respond to ever changing commercial environments. Commercial acumen, foresight and an innovative instinct.
* Ability to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision, and the application of good analytical, planning and interpersonal skills (team player, proactive, and assertive).
* Flexible to work in office or disaster field environments.
* Ability to produce worksheets, documents and presentations using Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint with a high standard of both written and spoken English.
* Experience of using a CRM system, (Salesforce desirable).
* An understanding of crisis management, emergency planning or business continuity desirable but not mandated.
