Summary
You will be employed as an apprentice to assist in caring for our livery horses, which we pride ourselves in doing to a very high standard. You will carry out general stable duties and occasional exercising. There is the opportunity to groom at shows for the right candidate.

Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
At Oak Farm we provide individually tailored care for up to 19 horses. From yearlings, to ex-racehorses, child ponies to competition horses. You will be calm and hard working and ready to learn about all aspects of running a successful yard.
Duties will include, but not limited to;
* Turning out and bringing in
* Mucking out
* Feeding, watering and haying
* Grooming
* Clipping and trimming
* Maintaining the cleanliness of the yard at all times
* Bandaging
* Tacking up
* Lunging/long reining
* Opportunity to ride for the right candidate and to groom at shows

Training
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Your training plan
* Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment. The applicant will be working towards a Level 2 or 3 Equine Groom apprenticeship.
* The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
* The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.

Other requirements
We are out in all weathers and on our feet for most of the day. The apprentice will be working to build a portfolio of evidence and will be required to pass a knowledge test and an End Point Assessment (EPA) to complete the apprenticeship.
