Main Job Purpose: To provide, and supervise the delivery of high standards of nursing care for the treatment and support of substance dependency and complex health needs, in accordance with up-to-date evidence based practice, national guidelines, and Framework policies. The main focus of this post is to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team who cover the unit 365 days a year and who are responsible for the delivery and monitoring of high standards of all relevant substance misuse and healthcare interventions. Working within a health improvement framework, the post holder will provide assessment, brief interventions, prescribed treatment, case management, crisis intervention, and all aspects of required nursing care. In addition, the post holder may facilitate access to primary care and mental health services, monitoring and implementation of agreed treatment plans which aim to improve the general physical and psychological health and wellbeing as required in the context of behavior change, leading to healthier lifestyle. The post-holder will be expected to manage their own time effectively and offer co-ordinated support to junior staff, The Level Staff Nurse and students, allocating work appropriately in order to best achieve desired positive outcomes.
Main Duties of the Job
Main Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide nursing care from admission to discharge.
2. Take an active role in multidisciplinary team meetings feeding back patient progress.
3. Provide information and advice about drugs, alcohol, smoking cessation and related issues which includes, blood borne viruses, safer sex and physical healthcare needs as a consequence of substance misuse.
4. Provide ongoing assessment of patient care, evaluating and amending care plans and treatment options as appropriate.
5. Administer medication, including controlled drugs in accordance with national guidelines and local policies and procedures.
6. Ability to assess and respond to those service users presenting high risk in relation to their mental or physical health, risk of overdose, providing information, guidance and advice with regards to improving quality of life and managing risk effectively.
7. Actively participate in team meetings with the focus on service review, development and improvement.
8. Ensure that essential training requirements are current and up to date.
9. Take an active role in appraisal, clinical and managerial supervision, identifying aims and objectives for personal development in line with the service business plan.
10. Maintain own registration requirements in accordance with NMC regulations.

Qualifications
* Registered Mental health or
* Current NMC registration & PIN number
Experience
* Experience of working with those who misuse substances
* Has experience of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team
* Has experience of assessing service user needs and risks
Working Requirements
* Required to work shifts including nights and weekends
* Is competent in basic IT skills including word, outlook and emails
* Constantly demonstrates a positive solution focused attitude, identifying opportunities for their own, their team and service users development within given resources
