We are looking to recruit a visionary technology leader with a passion for digital transformation and patients care as the NWAS Chief Technology Officer (CTO). We are seeking a CTO to oversee our digital services and ensure that our technological investments align with our strategic vision.
In this role, you will be responsible for shaping the future direction of technology within our organisation. You will work closely with senior clinical, operational, and corporate leaders to drive innovation and deliver sustainable, responsive digital solutions. With a strong background in digital technologies and proven leadership of technology teams, you will ensure the integrity and resilience of our critical infrastructure, including telephony, radios, networks, cloud and on-premise systems, and the service desk.

The post holder in summary will be responsible for
• Establish the technology strategy, vision and roadmap in line with the digital strategic plan and overall trust strategic aims
• Actively identify emerging and mainstream technologies that would support the organisation to deliver its strategic aims.
• Lead on how technology innovation can support or deliver transformational change
• Be the lead technical expert in the development of new organisational objectives including the procurement of technology for modernisation and optimisation of existing operational and clinical workflows.
• Determine and set clear objectives from an operational digital perspective that support delivery of service today and in the future
• Establish and embed a proactive operational culture across the technology teams in monitoring and responding to system performance, ensuring that critical functions are appropriately maintained.
North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.
Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.
Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.
We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
