You have the opportunity to join a market leading Metal Stockholder and Processer in Stockport. NO INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED You will join a market leading business a huge UK presence, supplying raw materials into both Commercial markets and Aerospace/Defence. You will be given a portfolio of accounts from various sectors and tasked with building relationships with customers and increasing business. No industry experience is required. The right candidate will be: - From a sales background - Confident on the phone - Capable of building relationships - Hungry to learn and develop MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION The key purpose of the role is to maximise the level of sales and profitability with the group’s customers on both a pro-active and re-active basis. To keep in close contact with your allocated accounts and be proactive with prospective accounts to ultimately increase both customer and market penetration and market share. Responsibility for the management of major contracts and spot business at the location, ensuring that customer satisfaction is achieved and or exceeded by making sure the right product is produced and delivered within the agreed timescales. The role also requires any business development opportunities – both at the major contracts and elsewhere – to be pursued and developed. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES To meet and exceed annual sales and margin targets (at customer, site and group level) set each year as part of the group’s Budget process. Targets to be agreed with General Manager. To monitor and report back regularly any movements. To maximise any customer enquiry both in terms of price and other services that can be offered or sold to maximise profitability To perform all required sales activities in the office including answering telephone calls in a professional manner; taking enquiries from new and existing customers; making pro-active calls; quoting for customer requirements; raise and amend sales orders, back to back purchase orders and purchase requisitions; allocate stock; agree delivery dates taking into account current processing and transport availability; entering all relevant information on our ERP system and CRM. Identify potential new business whilst maximising our opportunities with current customers Respond tactically to changes in market conditions and core product performance, identifying trends in order to maximise opportunities and acting quickly to address any issues For your allocated accounts keeping fully up-to-date on all relevant information, changes and requirements. This includes reviewing current and future stock requirements and ensuring there are sufficient purchase orders to satisfy customer demand. Build and maintain effective working relationships with allocated sales accounts. Build trust and confidence with key personnel by acting with integrity, exceeding expectations and keeping promises To work with the General Manager in pursuing/developing all relevant business opportunities. To develop relevant market knowledge to achieve a wide range of cross-selling opportunities through added value processes To meet customer KPIs and specific contractual requirements Handle customer complaints / disputes and investigate thoroughly to establish the cause. Seek management advice on & take appropriate remedial action as necessary Liaise with credit control to ensure sales accounts remain within terms Assist in the preparation of the annual Budget process for your targeted accounts As and when required to entertain customers; attend any required training and courses, attend conferences and any other exhibitions and business events. Act as an exemplar salesperson and present a professional image, behaving in line with corporate values both internally and externally at all times Ensuring all company policies and procedures are adhered to and are communicated to all operations staff Support stock check including any reasonable duty required Other tasks and activities as deemed necessary by the General Manager. KEY INTERACTIONS The Sales Account Manager will be required to liaise, co-ordinate and work with the following group colleagues: - General Manager and Sales Team - Finance team - Operations team - Purchasing team - Customers SKILLS & EXPERIENCE The ideal candidate will have a natural ability for sales. In particular the Sales Account Manager role requires: · Good interpersonal skills, particularly verbal communication using the telephone · The ability to be organised, especially in planning and having an eye for detail to ensure customer satisfaction is achieved Determination to succeed in pursuing opportunities and in ‘closing the sale’ Good product knowledge To have good negotiating skills To be computer literate To have a passion for selling An ability to work under pressure and to deadlines An ability to work independently and as a team Have good customer service skills teamed with excellent communication skills To be able to effectively manage the use of time to maximise production
