Comics Youth CIC is an innovative non-profit that delivers comics-based literacy and wellbeing projects for disadvantaged children and young people aged 8-25 within Merseyside and the wider Knowsley Borough. The overall ethos of the organisation is to break down participation barriers for marginalised groups including looked after children, LGBTQIA young people, global majority youth, care leavers, young carers and young people experiencing complex mental ill health within the Liverpool City Region to make, create and publish comic books about salient community issues. Sessions are delivered within safe, inclusive, and indiscriminate community venues.
Job Summary
The Creative Youth Worker (Zine Development Lead) role is crucial to Comics Youth CIC’s mission. The successful candidate will lead the development of quarterly zines with young people aged 8-25 as part of the Beyond the Margins project, a three-year initiative providing creative, social, and emotional support to marginalised young people.
This project uses zines and comics to empower participants, train peer mentors, and build a strong youth work community. The postholder will guide young people in sharing their lived experiences through creative expression, facilitating workshops both online and in person. They will work flexible hours, including evenings and Saturdays, to meet the needs of participants.
