We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Credit Controller to join our finance team. The Credit Controller will be responsible for managing the credit and collections processes, minimizing credit risk, and ensuring timely payments to support the company’s cash flow. This role requires strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, as it involves regular interaction with customers, internal teams, and management.
Job Description
1. Chasing up outstanding debts via Phone/E-mail/Letter
2. Negotiating payment plans and setting up terms and conditions
3. Starting legal proceedings if clients do not pay their debts on time
4. Monthly Reporting to Accounts Managers on position of Debt Control.
5. All ad-hoc accounting functions to assist the finance team.
6. Good Excel skills are necessary along with letter writing and communication by telephone
7. Record chase history and agreed payment timescale on system
8. Proactive resolution and monitoring of any queries raised on bills
9. Assist the treasury team with daily allocation of cash and any associated queries regarding payments received.
10. Send regular arrears statements/dunning letter to our customers.
11. Implementing changes in the company’s credit control system.
12. Researching accounts based on company records
13. Contacting clients through emails, phone calls and standard post
14. Developing collection systems to help to exceed the company’s financial goals
15. Checking credit information with new customers and commercial teams.
16. Creating repayment plans if necessary
17. Starting legal action to recover debts when necessary
18. Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
19. Analytical skills and thorough attention to detail
