Location: Home based with travel to customer site required and hybrid working arrangements available.
Up to £420.00pd PAYE (+36 days holiday) or Up to £515.00pd via approved Umbrella.

Welding Subject Matter Expert:
About the Opportunity
* The Bulk Inspection Services team provides a document and in-house surveillance service for the supply of large volume bulk materials and complex engineering equipment for the Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC) Nuclear New Build projects.
* A Welding Subject Matter Expert is required to work closely with Contractors and Engineering teams to review design packages prior to the start of manufacture and to provide specialist expertise to support Suppliers in meeting the requirements of the Technical Specifications.
* There is a requirement to assist the implementation of HPC & SZC project sourcing strategies by conducting in-depth technical assessments of Supplier welding activities to confirm capabilities and identify any gaps that may require further Welding specialist support.
* The Welding SME will also perform routine witnessing and surveillance of Supplier welding arrangements during manufacture prior to product release.
* The SME is the go-to person for all welding related matters and provides support to the wider team on complex technical issues.
Here's What You'll Need
* Minimum of HNC/HND and Apprenticeship in relevant discipline (or equivalent).
* Relevant professional Accreditation (CEng/IEng or EngTech with Engineering Council etc.).
* Diploma in Welding - Technologist / Engineer (or working towards).
* Qualified Welding Inspector - e.g., CSWIP 3.1 / 3.2 or PCN 2 / 3.
* 5-10 years' experience in Welding leadership roles within a major EPC project, preferably nuclear.
* Knowledge of working to UK and international standards and codes of practice for the UK Nuclear sector including RCC-M.
* Extensive experience within a welding environment.
* Demonstrable knowledge of all welding processes and plant required to be applied in the Nuclear environment on the HPC project, i.e., manual, semi-automated, automated, robotic and autogenous systems.
* Familiar with WPQRs over a wide range of materials.
* Be able to communicate well with internal and external stakeholders and develop professional relationships with suppliers.
* Demonstrate resilience in a challenging environment.
