Description
The post holder will have teaching responsibility for the LEAP (Entry level 3 / Level 1) Independent Life Skills programme. Students on this programme require highly individualised approaches to their learning both in and out of the classroom. The tutor for this post will also have the responsibility of supporting students to empower individuals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to lead more independent and fulfilling lives. The programme focuses on developing practical abilities and fostering self-reliance in areas such as:
* Personal care and hygiene: Building routines and habits for maintaining health and well-being.
* Household management: Learning essential tasks like cooking, cleaning, and budgeting.
* Health and safety awareness: Understanding how to stay safe and make informed choices in various environments.
By tailoring the programme to individual needs, we aim to support participants in achieving their goals, enhancing their quality of life, and contributing meaningfully to their communities.
Hours: 21.6 hours 39 Weeks per year (3 Days a week)
Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract until 18th July 2025
Salary: £27,198.90 - £31,469.49 p.a. (T4 - T7) within the QAC Q1 banded pay scale.
Key Responsibilities
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES (Q1):
1. Deliver, plan, and assess the curriculum in an innovative, responsible and flexible manner using a highly individualised approach in collaboration with the Line Manager.
2. Plan, assess and record the individual achievements of each learner against EHCP Plans and individual targets.
3. Deliver quality teaching and learning in line with professional standards and tailored to individual learner needs.
4. Prepare schemes of work and differentiated lesson planning.
5. Support and teach students through the design process including the use of printing equipment and computer software.
6. Lead sessions in accordance with good practice in terms of timed, scaffolded and sequenced learning.
7. Ensure assessments include appropriate means of feedback and progress recorded.
8. Contribute to the development of the curriculum through preparation, research, and management of resources.
9. Help run and support students in running the college print shop.
10. Evaluate the quality and success of the curriculum and implement improvements.
11. Participate in the PHSE curriculum and pastoral welfare of learners.
12. Plan, assess and deliver course content in areas such as Employability and Preparation for Adulthood.
13. Prepare lesson resources tailored to individual needs.
14. Work with the college Transitions and Community Services team.
15. Promote the aims and ethos of the College.
16. Participate in staff training and development.
17. Engage in research and consultative work as agreed by senior management.
18. Contribute to the corporate life of the College.
19. Perform other duties as required.
General Responsibilities:
* Act in accordance with the Staff Code of Conduct and QAC Values.
* Comply with all College policies and procedures.
* Undertake necessary training and development.
* Carry out any other reasonable duties required.
